An update on a CMG brother, Gaston Pfluegl. His husband, Enrique Lopez reports that he is responding well to treatment and his lymph nodes have normalized and no tumor was found on the CT scan. He has a few weeks to recover and is doing well. His energy is back. He is now eating and going out with us to the movies. August 1 (plus more): The El Camino Reelers, a GLBTQ square dance club in Palo Alto (Silicon Valley) will be starting new classes in August, and they are recruiting beginning with a free potluck supper and new dancer intro session on August 1 from 5:00-7:00 pm, followed by more free new dancer intro sessions on August 5th and 12th. Starting August 14: Catch CMG'er Link Alayon in a new play at the Actors Workout Studio in North Hollywood called "This Is My Fucking Wedding," playing for three weekends starting August 14 at 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 pm on Sundays.. August 16: Altered States? Expanded Consciousness? Author Robert Monroe began describing his out-of-body travels in his first of three books, Journeys Out of the Body, and was internationally known for his work with audio sound patterns that can have dramatic effects on states of consciousness. Experience those actual Hemi-Sync audio signals in this all-day, hands-on program -- an expanded version of the Gathering workshop, facilitated by CMG'er Bob Goodman. October 13-18: The IAGLBC (International Association of Gay and Lesbian Bridge Clubs) hosts its 10th Annual Bridge Tournament in Palm Springs this fall. Gay Bridge 2009 will be held October 13-18 2009 at the fabulous Zoso Hotel in Palm Springs. All bridge players, from novice to expert, are welcome to attend this tournament . October 24: "Rise Up & Shout!," a talent show performed entirely by LGBTQ youth at the Barnsdall Park Theater in Hollywood. Contact Steve at stephen.jimenez@lausd.net for details. Donations are gratefully accepted ($25 and up) to help cover the over $6000 in costs to put on this show and provide scholarships to LGBTQ youth to further their education..
October 17: Models of Pride (MOP), sponsored by Friends of Project 10, is a free one-day conference focused on the issues and concerns of LGBTQ youth 14-23 and their allies, and this year the 17th Annual MOP will be held at Occidental College in Eagle Rock.
