Flight Procedures Ready for Simultaneous Approaches throughout the NAS

AeroNav Products completed Terminal Procedures (TERPs) evaluations on over 500 procedures and issued associated permanent charting NOTAMS to support simultaneous dependent and independent operations at about 37 airports around the nation.  This initiative allows users to fly the Performance-Based Navigation procedures (i.e., RNAV /GPS  and RNAV/RNP) parallel to a user flying the traditional ground based Instrument Landing System (ILS).  The incorporation of this major NextGen effort adds flexibility to the NAS, increases the usability of PBN procedures, increases capacity, and improves efficiency of operation in the NAS while maintaining safety.  Surely, this is a celebratory occasion for all aviation enthusiasts alike!

U.S. VFR Wall Planning Chart

The second edition of the U.S. VFR Wall Planning Chart will be effective on February 9, 2012.  This beautiful and popular chart is designed for VFR preflight planning and provides aeronautical and topographic information of the conterminous U.S.  The aeronautical information includes airports, radio aids to navigation, Class B airspace and special use airspace.  The topographic information includes city tint, populated place, principal roads, drainage patterns and shaded relief.  This chart, 59x36 inches flat, is updated annually

BIG CHANGES IN ALASKA EFFECTIVE ON THE FEBRUARY 9, 2012 CHARTING CYCLE
In November and December we put this message in the Chart Agent e-News Letter as an extra message and reminder of the major chart changes that impact Alaska due to the movement of the Anchorage VOR.  Please help us get the word out to aviators on the chart changes... Safety first!

Effective on 2-9-2012, the Anchorage (ANC) VOR/DME will be shut down.  The Anchorage (TED) VOR/DME will be in use. The VOR was relocated roughly 5 miles onto the Anchorage International Airport property.  Therefore, it is vital to have all of the new charts in the Anchorage region to ensure the most current fix locations, procedures, and frequencies are used.  This includes TPP, IFR Hi's and Low's, and Sectionals.

Please note: the Supplement Alaska will also have all new Anchorage VFR flow patterns effective for the February 9th edition.  Be sure to check it out and help us spread the word!

Effective January 12, 2012, the hierarchy of procedure types for Terminal Procedures Publications will be changed to reflect new chart types and re-order existing chart types.

Love of flying flows through 3 generations of women

Pat Bryson earned her private pilot license in the 1950s, an era when female pilots were rare. The Cessna 172 she eventually bought also helped teach her daughter Dianne to fly.
