The Magic of Cartagena, Columbia
Cartagena has long been considered one of the loveliest ports of call for Caribbean cruises. It is currently featured on itineraries on Celebrity, Seabourn, Regent, Holland America Line and RCCL. While in port, consider having lunch at the historic Sofitel Santa Clara Hotel. Originally built as a monastery in 1621, it is a reference point in the heart of Cartagena de Indias, where its walls, which acted as a shield in ancient times, combine with colonial balconies and republican structures to evoke the splen dor of days gone by. In recognition of its great cultural and architectural wealth, the walled city, with its castles and bastions, was declared UNESCO World Heritage Center in 1984.
In the late 1990s the building was restored and converted into a hotel. Restaurants and bars provide the perfect setting for relaxing and socializing: El Refectorio, formerly the Clarisas nuns' dining room, offers contemporary food and El Claustro offers French cuisine with the latest in fusion dishes from around the world. Its amazing spa and 119 rooms with views of the ocean, the old city, or the beautiful interior courtyards, make it a great choice for couples wanting a romantic getaway. |

Orient-Express, the name behind the elite collection of travel experiences, debuted in 1883 as one of the world's most exciting and indulgent train journeys. Today the evocative name means so much more as it includes river cruises, luxury

rail adventures, and a collection of unique hotels around the globe. Each of these properties is distinctive and many are destinations in their own right. Every hotel has its own personality, and all are in exceptional locations. Of particular interest is their Italian portfolio consisting of 6 luxury properties representing all locations in Italy.
To experience the "Grand Tour of Italy" hotel package, and a sample itinerary, click on the link below... Properties include: Grand Hotel Timeo, The first hotel to be built in Taormina, Sicily, located directly in front of the Greek Theatre and offers sweeping views of the sea and Mt. Etna; Hotel Cipriani in Venice with rivaled views of the lagoon and Doge's Palace; Hotel Splendido on a hillside overlooking the picture perfect harbor of Portofino; Hotel Caruso in Ravello a former 11th century palace set on cliffs beside the Amalfi Coast seems nearer to the sky than to the shore; Villa San Michele a 15th century former monastery, nestled on a Tuscan hilltop just minutes from Florence; Villa Sant'Andrea which is set on its own exclusive beach on the Sicilian Coast.
