New York City was originally named New Angouleme in 1524 after King Frances I of France, Count of Angouleme. It became a Dutch colonial settlement called New Amsterdam in the 17th Century, before the English conquered the city in 1664 and called it New York.

Carry single bills ... It's a good rule to always have tip money - even outside the US - singles are accepted for tips in airports and hotels if you haven't mastered the local currency.
Safe-keeping documents ... carry, store or email yourself copies of important documents such as your passport, credit card and drivers license in case of an emergency. |

The white washed villas are reminiscent of the Greek island of Mykonos and offer 93 lavishly appointed accommodations with private patios overlooking the Atlantic.
The infinity pool stretches from the main building to the beach bar where you can enjoy water activities. CuisinArt is the only resort in the world to operate a hydroponics farm producing fresh vegetables and edible flowers which are used both for cuisine and the spa. Divine!
The Venus Spa, a spectacular resort spa has 15 treatment rooms, including a VIP/couples suite, Men's Club Room and a spectacular "healing waters pool" for aqua reflexology and aqua massage.
The CuisinArt Villas offer the utmost in luxury and privacy in a truly spectacular setting. Private villas at the Eastern end of the property are steps away from all resort facilities. Ranging from one to five bedrooms, each has its own entry courtyard graced with a soothing fountain and botanical splendor.
The resort can be easily reached with a non stop flight to St. Maarten and a 20 minute ferry ride.

For The Foodie .......
Here are some hints from Chef Daniel Orr at the CuisinArt Resort:
- Squeezing limes- cut lime in half and squeeze into a bowl in the palm of your hand. The seeds stay in your hand and the juice goes into the bowl.
- Snipping herbs - instead of chopping them to death, leave herbs closer to original size to prevent bruising and loss of flavour.
- Vanilla beans - Carve the full length exposing all the tiny beans inside before placing in pot.
- Fresh ginger - spoon rub the skin off the ginger root then freeze until you need it. The ginger will remain full and flavourful.
- Mango - cut side out of mango and slice cross sections into the flesh. Turn inside out and scoop the tiny cubes out with a spoon.
- Be loose!
- Be creative with your own recipes...Improvise.
