Call to advise your credit card and debit card companies of your upcoming travel.  If you neglect to do so and there is unusual activity on your account, some companies may freeze your account until they can confirm that the transactions are legitimate and your card has not been stolen.

If you don't already have a pin number for your credit card, consider getting one so you can get cash at ATM's while traveling.  Getting a pin number may take a couple of weeks so be sure to make arrangements in advance.
