To
live is to choose. But to choose well, you must know who you are and
what you stand for, where you want to go and why you want to get there. ~ Kofi Annan
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you
didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away
from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.

Top 10 Ways to Cope with Job Transition

Job transitions can be
stressful-whether they're due to layoff, a new job or working extra hours
because others workers were laid off. If you're facing one, consider the
following.
1. Take an honest look at
yourself. What are your strengths,
weaknesses, skills? How did those influence-positively or negatively-your
transition?
2. Step up your self-care. Major changes are physically and emotionally taxing.
You need self-care now more than ever.
3. Engage your curiosity. What went wrong, or right? What could you have done
better? What worked really well?
4. Focus on what you want, and less on what you don't want. Keep your eye on the
prize.
5. Find support. Since your transition affects your family as well, it
may be better to seek the outside support of friends or professionals.
6. Work on your thoughts. Calm your fears and reinforce your sense of hope and
happiness.
7. Reassure (or avoid) those who are threatened by, or jealous of,
the change.
8. Create your own rite of
passage. Ceremony and ritual help with all
transitions.
9. Let go of how things were
"supposed to be" and accept "how things are."
Find appreciation for what is.
10. Keep things in perspective. Or try on a new perspective. Don't get stuck.
Remember, the only constant is change.

Monday Inspiration
Tips for Living the Hawaiian Way
Recently, my mentor and Heal Your Life trainer got married
on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii. I received a delightful email about
their special wedding and some amazing tips for living the Hawaiian way, which
I thought I'd share with you today for some inspiration. Happy Monday!
"Tips
for Living the Hawaiian Way"
Never judge a day by the weather.
The best things in life aren't things.
Tell the truth - there's less to remember.
Talk softly and wear a loud shirt.
You can get rich by making more or desiring less.
The beauty of nature is rejuvenating.
Beauty is internal - looks mean nothing.
When confronted with humidity, forget neat hair-dos and makeup.
Without rain, there are no rainbows.

Grand Creator
Elizabeth,
like everyone has, has had her own life's journey. Never feeling like she fit
in with those around her as she grew up, it had often been a challenge to accept who she is, and what she believed in, often doubting herself. After all, if she was different, maybe she'd be better, and more
easily accepted by others. The problem was she couldn't seem to
be the "right" way to "fit."
Approximately
10 years ago she began to become aware of herself in a way that she hadn't been
previously. Often she was asked how she "knew" things about
people. Like many others, she shrugged it off, or said, it was just a
feeling she had. What she began to realize was that she was intuitive.
But she didn't want to say it too loudly, or to too many people, what
would they think of her? She already felt like an outsider. If she
started to claiming to be a "psychic," that would seal it, for sure.
However,
with the support of others around her at the time, Elizabeth began to take baby
steps. What she started to find was that people were very open and
receptive and appreciative of the things she had to say. They also asked
for her to do readings for them. She began to realize that the more she
spoke about it, the more people she found who were interested, and the easier
it got.
Around
that same time, she became acquainted with "Life Coaching."
Elizabeth had been coached, and then had the opportunity to coach in a
formal setting three times with participants in the programs she was attending
before setting out to do it on her own. Simultaneously, she had found
herself unemployed. In the 10 years previous to that time she realized
that she had averaged 10 jobs in 10 years. When asked what she wanted to
do, her response was "I want to get paid to talk to people."
She was told that she wasn't being specific enough, and she was very
frustrated. She knew that she didn't want to go back to what she had
always done, but didn't know what to do (she didn't yet know she wanted to
coach, and hadn't yet investigated hypnosis).
During
the next year, or so, she took a hypnosis course, and tentatively waded into
the waters while working 4 jobs, all paying minimal money, and working minimal
hours. She even went to temping, and when that took an abrupt change, she
had to make a decision. It looked like she could have a job, but there
was so much about it that just didn't feel right. At the same time, she
started to develop her client base. Would she be able to make it happen?
Should she take the safe bet? A friend suggested that she try it,
and see how it went for a length of time. Not having much time, Elizabeth
committed to one month, and never went to get that (or any) job, having
worked for herself since then.
In
the last several years as Life Coach and Certified Hypnotist she has had over
10,000 conversations with clients on various subjects, however the one nearest
and dearest to her heart, and the one that most don't even realize that it is
what they may really be coming for, is to be able to appreciate oneself without
judgment, to love and accept oneself, in spite of what anyone else says. Often Elizabeth works with people to be able to embrace their uniqueness and
support their "gifts." She has found this prevalent human
theme throughout her work.
Often
Elizabeth will speak to the power of perspective, and in late 2007 she began
her World of Perspective blog and internet radio show, and this year began to
add speaking engagements to her repertoire. All the many seemingly
disjointed pieces of her life now come together in ways that could not be seen
in the midst of the pain and transition, and it is the ability to accept life
for what it is, and to simultaneously make it better, that is one of her life
experience's "rewards" that now give her a perspective to share with
clients in any way that they choose to engage with her.
