Public Relations and Your Landfill
|
Your landfill should promote a friendly and professional image to the public. Here are a couple of ideas to achieve this:1. Consider having a company newsletter. If needed, get some help from the journalism department at the local college. They might assign someone each month to write the newsletter or develop a boilerplate that you can use. A landfill newsletter could highlight a certain employee, operation, task, activity or things of interest to the public. It can be a great employee motivator and can be distributed at meetings, to schools or other groups as well as customers. It's also a great tool to give your local regulators so they can get an idea about what's happening at your site.
2. Consider having a website for your landfill. It's inexpensive and a great PR tool, where you can post information about the landfill like rates, hours of operation, directions, a printable map, acceptable and non-acceptable materials, etc.
