Controlling Litter at the Landfill
|
Boost your landfill's image so that it looks like a sanitary landfill instead of a dump. Here are a few suggestions:1.Clean up any junk around your site, like old trucks, tires, parts, etc.
2. Provide large rakes for the litter picking crew so they can rake the litter into piles for pick up.
3. Tongs or grabbers for the crew will minimize injury from the repetitive motion of bending over.
4. Consider constructing some litter fences that are mounted on a PVC or wooden A-frame system that you can place on top of the operations layer without driving posts into the liner.
5. If you have a lot of spilled litter along the entrance road to the landfill, consider a surcharge for uncovered loads.
6. Keep litter fences clean.
