Do you have areas on your landfill where clean run-off is ponded, perhaps in a sedimentation pond, or a low point on the operations layer? If these ponds have litter floating on top, you'll want to clean it out so that it doesn't clog your pipes as you pump the water. Also, it will keep your landfill clean and aesthetically pleasing. Consider outfitting your crew in rubber boots or hip waders and having them wade out there with a big rake. They can rake the material to the shore easily to get rid of it. Or, consider going down to the local farm supply store and buying a polyethylene sled, float it out like a little boat, and put the litter in that. When the sled is full, it can be pulled out of the pond and the litter dumped.
