Peril of the Week- Is it Naptime?
Cyber Dating Expert Logo
They say when a man tells you how he really feels, you should believe it! When a man says he doesn't want to get married, well he just doesn't want to get married.

So when a friend of mine accepted a cyber-date from a man and he later called to say he was a bit on the tired side and requested that they reschedule the date, she should have listened. However, she didn't want to get replaced by another online prospect in the competitive dating pool and convinced him they should still meet for their casual dinner.

After the entree was brought to the table, she heard a loud noise. No, it wasn't the table crashing, and the waiter didn't drop a full tray of plates. The noise she actually heard was from her cyber-date who actually meant what he said, and was sitting across from her snoring loudly. I guess he forgot to take a nap that day before their online date. Sometimes what a man says and what he means are indeed actually true.

Love Potions - Easy Pear Appetizer

One of my favorite Italian caterers, La Piu Bella Tavola, treated us to their delicious limonada cookies at my recent book signing at Donald J. Pliner.

This month, Ellen is sharing her secret recipe for the Easy Pear Appetizer for our Love Potions. Enjoy!

Easy Pear Appetizer
2 Pears
1 Container of Mascarpone Cheese (in dairy case)
Cracked Pepper
Whole Toasted Walnuts

Remove the core and pits from a pear. Slice pear into 1/4 inch slices, slicing through the entire pear. Whip mascarpone cheese with fork. Add a dollop of mascarpone cheese to the top of the pear slice. Sprinkle cracked pepper lightly on top of the cheese. Top with lightly toasted walnut.

IS BREAKING UP REALLY HARD TO DO?

I can still be heard humming the words to the Neil Sedaka song, "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" from time to time.

Breaking up. It happens every day.  When it happens in Hollywood, it's national news. Privacy for celebrities isn't the only concern for couples now a days. There was even a movie called the Break-Up with Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughan a few years ago.

Modern technology has created a common trend of breaking up in a text message or an email. Even a voicemail break-up is becoming almost as obsolete as the old fashioned way, in person.
I was recently a guest on 700-WLW in Cincinnati with Eddie Fingers and Tracy Jones. We were talking about the recent break up of Jessica Simpson by Tony Romo the day before her 29th birthday. All I could say was, "OUCH!"

The pressure of holidays keeps many relationships together longer than they really should last. It's the slow F-A-D-E. After all,  who want's to be home alone on New Year's Eve or on Valentine's Day?

So, why is it that every week I hear a story about a break-up in a text message? Why would someone dump their fiance in an email or in a voicemail? The easiest way according to the afternoon drive team at WLW is to do the fade away, and disappear and go POOF! But is it right? How many people really have the courage to end a relationship amicably in person? Unfortunately, not enough according to what I am hearing in the singles scene.

So go ahead and say you would like to be friends, even if you don't mean it to avoid getting slapped in the face.  But please, don't break up with your significant other in a text message or an email, especially right before a birthday, anniversary or Valentine's Day. And if you do select the electronic way to deliver your message, don't be upset when it appears all over the public Internet, on Twitter, Facebook, My Space, and in an email blast. It's the simple revenge a jilted girlfriend or boyfriend may end up doing if they are feeling bitter about the way you handled it.
