Dear Friend,

Have we earned your support?

In the past year the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center was recognized by the New England Museum Association and the national arts blog createquity.com for our innovative community-based arts programming.

Kids looking at LEGOOur recent partnership with Marlboro College's Center for Creative Solutions, which resulted in the exhibit Renewing the Riverfront, was cited by Design Observer as a model of "creative, open-ended, collaborative visioning."

Our Third Annual LEGO Contest was mentioned as one of the top ten things to do this fall... within a day's drive of Philadelphia! (Philadelphia Inquirer, October 10, 2010)

For the sixth year in a row, we worked with over 600 children and teachers in local public schools, and we teamed up with Brattleboro's Early Education Services to provide high-quality arts education programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in 13 Head Start classrooms.

Our current exhibit, Licked, Sucked, Stacked, Stuck, which features photographs of iconic contemporary sculpture fashioned out of candy, has garnered praise in ARTnews and American Style.

With the YouTube videos of our annual Domino Toppling Extravaganza having been viewed over 100,000 times, we have fielded inquiries from topplers as far away as Germany who want to travel to Vermont to play their quirky trade.

The success of our collaboration with Vermont Public Television to offer free monthly screenings of Independent Lens documentaries before they air on PBS has led VPT to launch similar partnerships in Burlington and St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

This fall BMAC became the Vermont statewide affiliate for the prestigious National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which recognizes outstanding artists and writers in grades 7-12.

And that's just the beginning.

Grownups looking at artI don't have enough room to tell you about our exciting new joint venture with the Elliot Street Cafe, BEAN Micro-Grant Dinners, whereby community members gather at the museum to have dinner and support local art projects, or Hidden in the Hills, a new series that offers BMAC members guided tours of important local art studios and collections, or our newest project, VT Kids Design Glass, which will see professional glassblowers converting local kids' drawings into sculptures for display at the museum.

In short, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center has never been a more vibrant, bustling, creative place--offering world-class exhibits and a multitude of programs designed to appeal to everyone in our community. If you appreciate what we do, then please show your support by becoming a museum member of making a gift to our Annual Fund today. Your generous contribution is what enables us to continue fulfilling our mission "to present art and ideas in ways that inspire, educate, and engage people of all ages."

On behalf of all of us at BMAC, I thank you for your kind consideration.
Best wishes,
