Hidden in the Hills: The Jules Olitski Warehouse

Hidden in the Hills is a new offering that introduces BMAC members to extraordinary artist studios and collections "hidden" throughout our region.

Jules OlitskiThis Sunday, November 21 at 2 p.m. BMAC members are invited on a private tour of the Jules Olitski Warehouse in Marlboro, Vermont. A leading figure in contemporary American art, Jules Olitski (1922-2007) had ties to southern Vermont, stemming from his time on the faculty at Bennington College. He was the first living American artist to be given a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2008 BMAC organized a retrospective of Olitski's prints, which is currently on a tour of galleries and museums throughout the eastern United States.

Olitski's daughter, painter Lauren Olitski Poster, manages the Olitski Warehouse, which contains literally thousands of the late artist's paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures. She and BMAC chief curator Mara Williams will lead the November 21 tour of the warehouse. Refreshments will be provided. Admission is free, open to BMAC members only. Not a member?
