2010 Getaway Travel Auction
There's still time to take advantage of some incredible vacation opportunities in our 2010 Getaway Travel Auction. Bidding closes this Sunday 11/14 for most items, Monday 11/15 for a few.
As you contemplate relaxing on a beach in southern Spain, riding an elephant in Thailand, or floating on a kettle pond in Rhode Island, remember this: You'll be enjoying the additional peace of mind that comes from knowing that your vacation has provided vital support for BMAC's exhibits, programs, and education activities.

Calling all kids... and their grown-ups
Here's a special memo to all of you who are kids at heart or have kids in tow: Do not miss the exhibits currently on display at BMAC. Steve Gerberich's wacky mechanical sculptures, which invite viewers to press buttons and watch the artwork come clanking to life, are just the beginning. D.B. Johnson's Palazzo Inverso, Eric Sealine's trompe l'oeil sculptures, Paul Shore and Nicole Root's photographs of artwork replicated from candy, and the exquisitely detailed travel journals of Susan Bonthron, Carol Hendrickson, and Linda Rubinstein, are all wonders to behold. Kids will love them, and so will their grown-ups.
VT Kids Design Glass
And speaking of kids... we've just launched a fun new program for kids up to age 12. It's called VT Kids Design Glass. Here's how it works: When kids up to age 12 (even ones not from VT) visit the museum, they are invited to create and leave behind a drawing of an imaginary creature. Over the course of the coming year, museum staff and local glass artists will select a total of 12 drawings that will be turned into glass sculptures. The artists will create two copies of each sculpture, one for the kid who dreamed up the imaginary creature and one that will be included in an exhibit next fall of all 12 kid-designed imaginary creatures made out of glass.
Art & Music at BMAC This Weekend
On Saturday 11/13 at 1 p.m., award-winning children's book author and illustrator D.B. Johnson will give a demonstration, discuss his work, and sign copies of Palazzo Inverso.
On Sunday 11/14 at 5 p.m., three cutting-edge young musicians -- bassist Nat Baldwin, saxophonist Travis Laplante, and multi-instrumentalist Kurt Weisman -- will give a free concert in the museum's main gallery.
