Jan 27, 7pm: "Garbage Dreams" Screening at WHYY Civic Space Al-Bustan is pleased to co-sponsor the screening of this documentrary about the
world's largest garbage village located on the outskirts of Cairo,
Egypt. Follow three teenage boys born into the business who are forced

See artwork made by students in Al-Bustan workshops led by artist Tremain Smith, at Walnut Street West Branch - 40th Street.
We have several programs planned around this exhibit, including a Name-Writing Workshop at 3:30pm on Friday, Jan. 29. Additionally, we are planning FREE School-Day Demonstrations for educators who would like to schedule a visit with their students to
see exhibit and participate in a hands-on workshop writing their

The Philadelphia Arab Music Ensemble, led by Hanna Khoury, continues Wednesday night rehearsals It's not too late to join: Wednesdays, 6-9pm
Following their December debut led by Director Hanna Khoury, The Philadelphia Arab Music Ensemble invites singers of all levels and advanced and intermediate musicians to sign-up for the Winter/Spring season.
The featured repertoire this season is compositions by acclaimed violin/oud virtuoso Simon Shaheen. The Ensemble will have a master workshop with Shaheen on February 7. The season culminates with a performance in concert with Shaheen on April 25 at Irvine Auditorium, U-Penn.
Rehearsals will be held Wednesday evenings in West Phila. at Parish Hall of St. Mary's Church at UPenn campus. First session is FREE and open to anyone interested in finding out more.

Auditions open to high school and college-aged musicians and juried by Simon Shaheen, Hanna Khoury, Hafez El Ali Kotain, Marc Johnson, and Vincent Rutland
