No price increase in 2012

We are pleased to announce again this year that there will be NO rate increase for the upcoming year, 2012. In 4 of the last 5 years, we have been able to hold our rates constant. At the same time, our online product sales and advertising programs continue to generate increasing revenue share.

We appreciate your business and look forward to another successful year!

New features perform well

The Obit Report and the Most Shared module -- both new to your obituary pages in Q2 -- have generated interest and traffic.

Most Shared

In the first month, the Most Shared module drove more than 800k visits to obits. We even ran across a tweet from a customer who was proud that her brother's obit was Most Shared at her local paper.

The Obit Report received almost 400k views from affiliate sites in its first month, with many Facebook shares directly from newspapers.
Plan ahead for Veterans Day

We have created special online ads for your use for Veterans Day, pointing users to the Veterans Memorial Site, cobranded for your newspaper.

These ads can be found at this link.

More revenue opportunities for your newspaper!

We're dedicated to providing a variety of ways for you to generate revenue from your obituary site. Today we're happy to introduce two new revenue opportunities for you to consider as you plan for 2012.

In Memoriam Upsell. When an obituary is purchased, bundle a future online "In Memoriam" notice with it. You set the retail price and receive additional revenue from the bundle. Further benefits include a link to the original obituary in the memoriam -- generating increased traffic -- and a shared Guest Book.

ObitNetwork Advertiser. This new program offers an opportunity for funeral homes to promote their brands and drive traffic to their websites though highly visible advertising on your obituary site. The funeral home ad appears right next to their obituaries on the newspaper site and features funeral home information, logos and website links. Legacy will charge a wholesale price of $35 for each ad, and you can determine the retail price to your local funeral homes.

Mobile App and Mobile Site

Our mobile app is about to launch for iPhone, with the Android version soon to follow. We're excited about the new features it offers your readers! App users can:
  • Search our entire network of obitsmobile app
  • Set up a list of favorite newspapers for a quick search
  • Sign or sponsor a Guest Book
  • Get funeral home info and call or get a map with one click
  • And more!

We already offer a mobile version of your site for your many readers who check the obits on the go with their smartphones. We encourage you to link to the mobile obit site from your newspaper's mobile site: affiliates who link see a 5% increase in total obits traffic and are filling in the night-and-weekend traffic gaps when readers are away from their desktop computers.

Sharing stories of 9/11

Remember 911

For 10 years, we have maintained our memorial site for the victims of the 9/11 attacks, helping people grieve and remember. The Guest Book entries we receive for 9/11 victims -- on anniversaries and every day -- are meaningful reminders of the importance of what we do. We often share with each other the most touching entries, and we wanted to share with you too, just one entry of the thousands we received for this year's anniversary.

"Thank you for saving my husband on that day. You pulled him from the concourse, got him out and put him into an ambulance before you ran back in to save more lives. I didn't even know him then, but your selflessness and extreme courage is to this day changing the course of lives. Please know that the man you saved is doing great things as a foster parent to children in need. He is a wonderful father to these children. Your legacy lives on in him, and in them, and in everything they and their children and their children's children will do. They will know about you. You will never, ever be forgotten." [From the Guest Book for Robert Fazio Jr., NYPD]
