Smile! Guest Book Photo Uploads
Are Now FREE

Guest Book photo
We recently analyzed 2009 data from a group of test markets where affiliates offered free photo uploads in their online Guest Books. The results are a resounding endorsement for eliminating the $2.95/photo upload fee.

Markets with free photos received more photo entries, more text entries, and more purchases of Guest Book sponsorships and printed Guest Books. Overall revenue from all Guest Book-related purchases was 30% higher in these markets - even with the loss of the $2.95/photo revenue.

We're happy to announce that as of March 25th, the free photo policy has been implemented on all affiliate sites.

Light a Candle
Your readers now have a new way to participate in the Guest Book. In addition to leaving a written message or uploading a free photo, they'll be able to attach a candle to their name and post it to the Guest Book.

This new feature helps fill a need for those users who don't quite know what to say, but want to let family and friends know their thoughts are with them. We expect this feature to increase Guest Book participation.

Light a Candle"They have a candle and I like that...it means that your memories will always keep going...Thank you Courier Journal." - Guest Book entry for Barbara Ann Warnell Allrutz

Tips on getting the most out of your Legacy.com obits website

5 Best Practices for S(EO)uccess!

1. Set up your hostname alias on your Legacy co-branded home page (e.g. obits.yournewspaper.com).This will make it easier for Google users to find your obit content.*

2. Post your obits ASAP. The sooner they are posted, the sooner they can be indexed by Google.

3. Use "obituary" or "obituaries" in your nomenclature, as opposed to "death notices." Users are 20 times more likely to use "obituary" in a keyword search.

4. Make your feeds more inclusive. City, state, and other fields in your feed can all be utilized for search.

5. Upload all your content. More information, particularly original editorial content, makes for a stronger portal page in Google's eyes.
