In March we added an "Add This" social bookmarking and sharing module to obits appearing on newspapers utilizing the Affilate Site Redesign. Obits have now been "shared" thousands of times and usage of this feature has been increasing each month. Facebook accounts for 60% of the shares, while Twitter is around 6%.

Speaking of which, you can now

Finding community at LegacyConnect

LegacyConnect main

LegacyConnect was launched as a way for your users to learn from leading experts and each other about loss, grief and recovery. Designed as a place where people going through one of life's most difficult experiences can come together as a community and share, the site allows users to interact by:

  • writing and commenting on blogs
  • posting to forums
  • creating support groups

With new expert content added weekly the site continues evolve. Since appearing on the Affiliate Site Redesign, traffic has quadrupled and the site now has nearly 3,000 registered members.

"I have no other place to go and write how I feel and someone understands what I am saying and feeling," writes NOLA.com user Elaine Phillips.  "This is why I call this site a BLESSING."

Contact us today to find out more about how LegacyConnect can be an important resource for your users.

ObitNetwork ad

ObitNetwork, the comprehensive online obituary and Guest Book solution, has been well-received by both Legacy.com newspaper affiliates and funeral homes in markets where it has launched. In September, we will be testing a print ad in two national funeral home trade publications - The Director and American Funeral Director. To view a copy of the print ad, click here

The purpose of the ad is to generate awareness/sales of ObitNetwork and help our affiliates market this product. Please keep in mind that ObitNetwork is an attempt by Legacy.com to build bridges between funeral homes and newspapers. For any sale made as a result of the ad, we will abide by the revenue share previously communicated. Should an inquiry come in from a newspaper market that has decided not to offer the product, we will let them know it is not available in their particular marketplace. For more information on ObitNetwork, please contact us.

What drives Guest Book signage rates?

Higher signage rates lead to more Guest Book sponsorships and increased overall revenue for your newspaper. Below are the Legacy.com affiliates with the highest signage rates.

GB Signage Rates

Several factors can affect how many people sign your Guest Books, but it's important to note that 8 out of 10 newspapers on this list have two features in common.
  1. They have an Obituaries link in their main navigation.
  2. They link directly to the co-branded, Legacy-hosted obituaries page rather than a gateway or interstitial page.

Contact us today for more tips on how to increase your Guest Book signage rate.

*Includes only affiliates with 2,000 or more new notices 1/01/09-7/31/09.
