Prophetic Word
"But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation."
(1 Cor 14:3)
"Little children laugh easily and often. Learn from their example. Allow the joy of the Lord to bubble up and be your strength. With joy, draw refreshing waters from the well of salvation. You will find strength, yes, but also, a boost to your hope, faith, and a lightness in your step.
As you choose Me and My ways over your own or the ways of the world, you will find that you are able to rise above every situation.
I am your Captain and I have never lost a battle. I lead you in the Way you should go, and I lead you through even treacherous places. But I have promised to never leave you, but to bring you through as you follow Me.
So do not trust in your own impulses or fears, but trust in My love and faithfulness to you. Take My corrections with gratitude and bring yourself under My easy yoke. I will show you My goodness and My mercy. I am perfecting your faith and I am completing the work I have begun in you.
Take my instruction and learn from Me for I am the Master Life Designer. As you choose My ways, Your life will be steadily built upon a sure foundation." |

A Lousy Hand?
As a child, I remember playing card games and sometimes getting dealt what I considered to be a lousy hand. The cards would not be a winning combination by any means. I had to work with the cards I had received. I might not win, but I could do the best I could with what I had. OR lose my temper, whine, complain, or cheat. It still wouldn't change the fact that I had gotten a lousy hand.
Right now, several of my Christian friends are going through some horrendous medical and financial challenges. Other folks whine and complain about how hard and unfair their life is over the minor inconveniences they must endure. I wonder how they would handle a real problem.
Many times life deals us some things we find difficult and painful to get through.
It is SO easy to be negative. And it's so ordinary.
You've gotta play the cards you're dealt!
Your life is not what happens to you! It's how you choose to live in the midst of your difficulty!
You
may not be able to choose your circumstances, but you are not without a
choice. You can choose to live like a disciple of Jesus Christ, which is not
the same thing as just showing up for church from time to time.
If you are not joyful now, that is an indicator that you're not playing very well. Jesus was "acquainted with grief", but also anointed with the oil of joy. Even children liked to be around Him.
A disciple takes instruction, adopting the attitudes and actions of an overcomer. Overcomers might get knocked down, but they get back up again. They resist the negative pull of their feelings and the world around them. They choose faith and hope and positive declarations.They trust God for grace, comfort, and mercy when suffering.
While chained up in a filthy prison cell and aching from having been beaten, Paul & Silas sang praises to God. I doubt they felt like it! (See Acts 16.)
To the church that was birthed out of that experience, Paul wrote: "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice!" (Phil 4:4)
And: "Do all things without grumbling or disputing." (Phil 2:14)
I am watching some friends right now with great admiration as they suffer. I marvel at how they remain full of joyful faith, not blaming and complaining. I am amazed at how they genuinely continue to inquire of other people's concerns.
There is not a lot I can do about their hardships, but I can pray for them and learn from their examples.
Complaining is beneath the child of God. Let's overcome and receive the victor's crown! Amen?
In 2009, choose to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. If you need some teaching or mentoring, find it. Refuse to be ordinary!

I have often said there are no coincidences in the life of a believer, and now here is a collection of short anecdotes that illustrate that God is speaking to believers and unbelievers. This is an easy read that can be read a few minutes at a time, although you will probably be intrigued enough to read it in one sitting.
