Prophetic Word

"But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation."
(1 Cor 14:3)

"I consider all things. I have taken into consideration your strengths as well as your weaknesses, your imperfections as well as your virtues, your past as well as your present.  I still perfect your faith, the good work I have begun in you, and everything that concerns you. I have not changed My mind concerning the things I have spoken to you.

Apply your heart to discover wisdom and learn the lessons of each season you are in.  The very things you have cried out for have brought you to this point. Learn the purpose of this season, as you are moving through it. Expect Me to meet you. Look for My Hand in the midst of your circumstances, even when you do not understand.

I love you more than you imagine. I am committed to you. Let's overcome together!"

A Chat with an Entrepreneur: Reality Check!
Donna's Smile
Many believers are entering into business ventures with hope, expectation, and often, a prophetic promise.

Stephen Blackmon of Consuming Fire Inc. offers that for many, it's time for a reality check:

"With the size and scope of the trend in the American Christian Community to encourage believers to start businesses and develop multiple streams of income, there are lots of believers out there who are launching out. But if any of them are like I was a few years back, they're in for a rude awakening.

It seems to me that the encouragement to find your actual purpose or start a business is most frequently taught by those who also have a revelation of giving and Kingdom. But many of us launching out may not understand how some of the giving principles and supernatural miracle principles apply to vision and business. I know that I thought (subconsciously) that since I sowed a sacrificial $100 seed during a special offering on Sunday, then Monday, 100 new clients are just going to find me, I'm going to have everything I need to provide my service to them, and by Thursday or Friday I should have a 100-fold return on the seed I sowed.

I received all kinds of interesting reality checks and times of correction. God is providing. Business is growing. But it doesn't fit the miraculous image I dreamed up in service listening to an inspiring message.

Now, the marketing and consulting side of my business tries to help people launch their visions, businesses and organizations. But part of the challenge when working with believers is trying to get them to understand the importance of things like research, or marketing, or packaging, or work ethic (I firmly believe that most have no idea how much work it actually is - at least if you are trying to develop something you will actually be able to live on). But how do you tell them how important these things are without appearing to come against their faith in the miracle they are believing God for, or against the Word they received that said 'the struggle is over'?  I personally have looked for that miracle a number of times, and didn't see it the way I hoped I would. But does that qualify me to say it won't happen for them? God does do it for some. It just seems to be a tiny minority.

I recently worked with someone who wanted me to rebuild their logo. Someone else had done it and moved away without giving them a working file. I rebuilt it, but also presented them with a few simple modifications that would make it far more marketable (especially to the people they wanted to reach). They got upset with me and said 'That's what God gave me'. Logos are one of the things I do best (or so knowledgeable people have told me). But how do you offer counsel in situations like this?

Considering how many startup businesses fail each year, I constantly find myself saying to people launching out, 'We don't just want to start something, we want it to be successful'. But many believers appear to be starting out using methods and tools and systems that will make it far harder to be successful (barring the miraculous). So we either just wait for each of them to learn things the hard way, step in and burst their bubble (out of love), or just don't watch."

"Wisdom is often found in the mouths of others who have more experience and many times, just as much if not more, faith.  Build a Wisdom Circle of relationships that you can draw upon." -- Donna

Once there were several men who held the ropes to a hot-air balloon.  It got away from them and suddenly began to float away.  Several of the men held on until their strength gave out and then dropped to their deaths. One man, realizing he had to find a quick solution, tied the rope around his body and let the balloon carry him until it descended to the ground.

Many of us have heard so many exhortations to never quit, that we sometimes find ourselves hanging on to positions, situations, ideas, etc. well past the point when it is clear a change is due.  Part of the challenge is not seeing a dead end for what it is.

The point is to quit the right things, so that we will be able to persevere in other right things.
