Meeting with Dr. Jay Strack/Leadership Rocks
We would like to thank everyone for attending the meeting with Dr. Jay Strack yesterday. Dr. Jay's presentation, "Crystal Blue Persuasion - Chasing the Millennial Generation," was incredible. We received a lot of interesting statistics about the millennials as well as what they believe, are concerned about and what they are searching for.

Dr. Jay presented us with several tough questions that we must address before we chase the millennial generation. We need to decide if we have the courage to face reality and make the transitions necessary to reach this generation.

"You can influence from the stage or platform, but the way to imprint is up close and personal," Jay stressed during his message. We have all been challenged and have a lot to consider.

Between the morning session in Gardendale and the lunch session at Valleydale, about 125 ministry leaders attended. What a group to launch a movement in our area with Millennials!

Below is a link to Dr. Jay's presentation for you to have and use while informing those you influence. You will also find below a link to pictures from the meetings with Dr. Jay.

Parent Seminar

We would like to remind you about the "Establishing the Home Field Advantage" Parent Seminar with Dr. Jay on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. at North Park Church in Trussville. Session topics include:
  • Help! I don't understand kids these days.
  • How to leave a sweet taste in the mouths of your children for the things of God.
  • How to drug, alcohol and sex proof your teen.

The cost of the event is $10. There are two ways your parents can secure tickets for the event:

1.  From your church - Purchase tickets for $8 each when you buy 50 or more with cash or check. You can then re-sale those tickets to your congregation for $8 or as much as $10 each. Or, you may choose to provide them at a discounted rate or at no cost to your congregation; you decide.

2. From First Priority - Promote the event to your congregation and have them contact First Priority directly for $10 tickets. There will be no guarantee of ticket availability if you choose this option.

There are only 1,000 seats available for this three hour event where Dr. Jay can inspire and equip your parents. You will need to move quickly to secure seats for your parents. Beginning in December, this event will be promoted heavily on WDJC and in Birmingham Christian Family Magazine. Because you attended the meeting on Thursday, you have the opportunity to be ahead of the crowd on this event. So, move now to secure seats for your parents before the general public is made aware.

*Childcare will be made available at North Park. You will receive more information once you secure your tickets.

Youth Conference - "Chasing Elephants"

At this conference students will not be taught what to think about the gray areas of life but rather how to think biblically. Some of the issues your students will be taught to think about are homosexuality, the cyber world, social drinking, entertainment and humanitarian efforts.

The conference is being held March 4-5, 2011, at Gardendale First Baptist Church with Brent Crowe, author of the new Nav Press book "Chasing Elephants: Wrestling With The Gray Areas Of Life," Dr. Jay Strack, worship band Rush of Fools and Illusionist Drew Worsham.

All registration information for Leadership Rocks can be found at www.leadershiprocks.com (look for locations, then Birmingham). The following is the schedule for Leadership Rocks Birmingham:
