Activities Director Brian Gustafson highlights Activities & Athletics
Greetings, Panther fans! Winter Sports and Activities continue their seasons and this month I would like to highlight Forensics teams district-wide as well as the WPHS Wrestling team. At Woodland Park Middle School: The Forensics team has experienced great success and recently brought home 29 trophies from the first tournament at Russell Middle School. Their next competition is a home tournament on January 24th. Middle School Girls' Basketball is also underway and the girls played their first games on January 12th with the 8th graders prevailing over their counterparts from Cheyenne Mountain. Additionally, the annual Middle School Geography Bee was held on January 8th, so if you need to know where to find Timbuktu, ask a middle-schooler. Winter sports roll on at Woodland Park High School. In fact, the Panther Wrestlers wrap- up their home schedule on January 14th. The Wrestling team is priming itself for a strong finish after bringing home the Team Championship from the Westside Classic on January 9th. Congratulations wrestlers! WPHS Forensics is also experiencing success. Though the team is relatively small, the participants and coaches pride themselves on mixing it up with bigger schools. The WPHS Forensics squad has placed 1st or 2nd as a team in all 7 of the Main Event Tournaments in which it has participated this season. The team's mission is to build strong moral character and enhance strong work ethic while developing public speaking skills. Certainly, this year's squad is setting and achieving high standards. Go Green!
