"I Am 36, I Can Work But I Can't Live on 43 Million Dollars".

By Charles D. Jamieson, Esquire

Divorce attorneys in West Palm Beach and the rest of Palm Beach County are familiar with spouses who sometimes make exorbitant claims during their divorce cases.  However, even these family lawyers may raise their eyebrows concerning a divorce case now being litigated in Connecticut.  A 36 year old Swedish countess, married to a former United States CEO, is demanding $53,000 per week in permanent alimony.  In doing so, the countess is requesting the divorce court overturn a written agreement of the parties that the wife will receive 43 million dollars for her support because it is not enough money to fund her lifestyle.  Currently in the United States, the median income is slightly more than $50,000 per year.  Consequently, the wife is requesting more money per week than these families make in a year.  Commentators, not surprisingly, are predicting that the countess will not be successful in her quest.  To learn more about this divorcing couple and the amazing demands of the wife, please click here.

Tips For Inexpensive Ways to Get Your Name Out There
Marketing Tips

In times like these, when economy is bad and everyone is looking for ways to generate business, creativity must kick in.

So here are some of the things you can do to get your name out there by just using your business cards.
Hand your card to everyone. It's an inexpensive way to get your name out there.
You never know who that person knows or what could happen.

Here's a few examples:

- When you leave a tip at a restaurant, leave your card. Write a personal note like "Great service" or "Thank you" or "Fantastic food".

- Hand a card to the bank teller, grocery clerk and fast food worker, perhaps including a compliment as you do.

- When you're out shopping and you have a salesperson who has been very helpful, hand them a card and thank them for their service.

- Post five of your cards on every bulletin board you see. Top center is the best spot.

- When you return a movie rental, include a card.

- Visit the bookstore or library and put a card in the contents section of books that relate to your profession (and books that your prospects might be reading).

- Make sure your family members have several of your cards.

- Compliment well-dressed strangers on their appearance, introduce yourself and hand them a card.

- Enclose your card in every outgoing piece of mail, including bill payments.

- When you're at a doctor's office, and they ask for your name, hand them a card. Rental car counter, same thing. Restaurant with a wait, same thing.

And when someone hands you their business card, don't just take it and
put it in your pocket. Look at it, appreciate it. Jot notes on the
back of the card to remember the person, special interests, or follow
up you need to do. Are they very interested in your services?
Indiscreetly fold down a corner of the card to prompt you later to contact them with more information.
