Larry Roach married Julia and after 18 years of marriage they divorced and, not surprisingly, Larry was ordered to pay Julia alimony in the amount of $1,250 per month. After the divorce, the ex-wife had a complete sex change and Julia became Julio. Larry took the view that Julio was no longer his ex-wife and therefore he should not have to pay alimony. Many divorce attorneys would smile at this issue and think that this situation was very much like a question that they would have to confront in law school. However, this issue was not an academic exercise to Larry Roach
