Northeast Alumni Weston Wine Tasting Weekend

Saturday, October 9th

Please RSVP By Oct. 5th :

Meet at the St George Hotel, 500 Main Street @ 2:30 to 4 for wine tasting and snacks.  Come early in the day to see historical Weston and visit charming antique shops. This is Irish Fest Weekend in Weston as well, so there will be great food, music and shopping all day.   Take advantage of a fun filled fall Saturday with other Alumni!

Weston is set in rolling hills and is located just 30-minutes from downtown Kansas City. This active farming community is home to numerous shops including several antique stores. The city's restaurants also offer a varied cuisine.

As the old saying goes, "when you're given lemons, turn them into lemonade." That's exactly what the 1837 Missouri River town of Weston, Missouri has done through the years. Seemingly disastrous fires, floods, Civil War hardships and the destruction of the river port are today viewed in a positive light as the city works to preserve its heritage and celebrate its past. Weston has lots to be proud of, billing itself as the "Town that Time Forgot" and welcoming visitors with antique shops, a winery, a 1,133-acre State Park on the Missouri River and a 22-block historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A trip to Weston is truly like taking a trip back to the past.

Today Weston is home to the only tobacco market west of the Mississippi River and to the McCormick Distilling Company, one of America's oldest distilleries. The former German Lutheran Evangelical Church, built in 1867, houses the cellars of the Pirtle Winery, where wine tastings are conducted. At O'Malley's 1842 Irish Pub, visitors sample Irish beer in the cellar of the oldest brewery west of the Hudson River

Numerous historic sites attract visitors year round. The Weston Historical Museum features artifacts depicting life in Weston from prehistoric times to World War II. The Price-Loyles House, an 1857 Federal-style home, is filled with original family furnishings and toys from the 1860s. This was home to four generations of Daniel Boone's descendants. The Herbert Bonnell Museum offers a glimpse into household and farm life during the 1800s.

Directions from downtown

Kansas City, Missouri to Weston, MissouriI-29 North to exit 20 (just north of Platte City). Go west on Highway 92 to Tracy, Missouri. Follow signs to Weston (six miles).

See you Saturday! Reservations needed by Tuesday, October 5rd.
