Chris Engelbrecht was named Jerry Finnell Volunteer of  the Year for 2011 for 10 faithful years of service to DMCC.  Many of you may know her as your Volunteer Driver for medical appointments.  She's also served on the DMCC Board of Directors, Transportation Committee and Chaired the 2008 Bella Luna Fundraiser.  We hope she'll give our DMCC community 10 more years!  Thanks & congratulations, Chris!

Computer Tutoring for Seniors

9 -11:30 a.m.  

Free!  Whether you are new to computing or just want to brush up on your skills, please drop by! In Partnership with Casa di Amistad and the Solana Beach Senior Center, DMCC offers computer tutoring plus use of Web Adapt technology for those with vision challenges. 120 Stevens Ave., SB, Computer Lab, Room 108.

 

Tai Chi by the Sea 

9:45 - 10:45 a.m.

11 a.m. - 12 p.m - Level 2

Warm Water Aerobics Class

12 Noon to 1 p.m.   Noonan Family Swim School, Jimmy Durante Blvd.  Fee: $6/class or $30 for 6 classes. Register in class.

Medicare Counseling Clinic

9 - Noon 1st & 3rd Tuesday each Month

Personal appointments with a HICAP* counselor to discuss Medicare, Long Term Care or Supplemental Insurance, Medi-Gap and prescription drug programs. Appointments are scheduled by HICAP and held in the DMCC back office on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 9 am to Noon. Call (800) 434-0222 to schedule an appointment.

DMCC shuttle provides pick-up at City of Del Mar residents' homes and takes them alternately to either Sprout's in Solana Beach or Trader Joe's in Encinitas.  We assist riders loading and unloading their purchases.  Suggested donation:  $5.  Call DMCC 24 hours in advance to arrange pick up.

Writing Your Life Story with Mai Lon Gittelsohn 

9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

If you want to share family stories with loved ones, but don't know where to start - this is the class for you.  Students write together in class and share their work with each other. Register by phone 760-753-7073 or online at www.sdadulted.com. Fee. Held at St. Peter's Library.  This is the only Mai Lon class held in Del Mar.    

Knit and Stitch - November 3

3 - 4:30 p.m.

Free!  First Thursday of each month.  Bring your own project and share an idea.  At the Del Mar City Library.  For details, call Regina Horner at 858-755-1931.

 

Singing Together - November 3     

3:30 to 5 pm

Free! For seniors 60 and older in the 92014 zip code area.  Attorney provides advanced healthcare directive, power of attorney, wills, referrals and more.  Last Friday of each month (changed this month due to holiday).  Please call ElderLaw for an appointment and to confirm date:  858-565-1392 x208.
    

Silver Age Yoga for Seniors

10 - 11 a.m.

With chairs or on the floor.  Chairs provided; bring your own yoga mat for floor work.  Teacher trained and certified by Silver Age Yoga.  At St. Peter's Parish Hall. Silver Age Yoga is funded in part by the Del Mar Foundation.

You choose the day - morning or afternoon - and become a valuable member of our on-call volunteer driver team for our senior residents.  Be prepared on your day to take a driving assignment with a senior rider to a local medical or dental  appointment.  You'll have an enjoyable experience with your senior rider as  they share their stories about Del Mar!
