Unless noted otherwise, call DMCC at 858-792-7565 for more information on any of the following activities.
Pet Finder email blasts - So far, we've reunited dogs - and even birds - with their loved ones because of our "Community Connection" Lost Pet Alert email blasts. If a friend or neighbor in Del Mar has lost their pet, call or email us with the information and we'll send an Alert via email ASAP. If you can include a photo, that's even better! 858-792-7565 or dmcc@dmcc.cc.
Medication Reminder Calls can be especially helpful after returning home from the hospital to remind you to take your important medications.
Are You Okay? Program provides a daily check-up call to make sure that you answer your phone at a designated time. Unanswered calls trigger a follow-up response by DMCC personnel to make sure you are okay.
Care Management Consultation Services help older people and their families develop solutions to the challenges of aging such as future long-term care needs and arrangements for in-home care. Darcy Mulholland, MSW, is available to meet with you and make recommendations to help you live safely at home.
Rides to Medical Appointments: DMCC volunteers, using their own cars, drive City of Del Mar residents to medical appointments. Call a week in advance to reserve a ride.
Dial-A-Ride Taxi Vouchers for seniors over age 62 and residents with special needs who live in the City of Del Mar are available through DMCC.
Medicare question? A HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) counselor is available at the DMCC office the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 9am to 12 noon. | Census Safety Concerns |
|
Ways to Protect Yourself
DMCC received email from a couple of residents asking us to share this information: Since the first phase of the 2010 US Census is already underway, here are some reminders to provide information only to official Census Bureau representatives and provide only the types of information they are authorized to collect.
If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a hand held device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don't know into your home. Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your Social Security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S. Census. While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, it will not ask for Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers nor will employees solicit donations. Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail, or in person at home. However, they will not contact you by Email, so be on the lookout for Email scams impersonating the Census. Never click on a link or open any attachments in an Email that are supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau. |
