As you have noticed, we are using Constant Contact for our e-mail communication service.  We will be able to keep you regularly informed of our growing programs.

Computer Tutoring
Don't forget that our Computer Tutor, Lucy Zizka, is waiting to help you to become more proficient with computers.  Whatever questions you have, Lucy will have the answers.  She is available Mondays from 9 to 11:30 am at Solana Beach Community Center, 120 Stevens Avenue, and Solana Beach.  Call Leah at the DMCC offcie for directions.

Recycling with DMCC

Our recycling program continues to expand.  You can drop off your old cell phones, PDA's, printer cartridges and toner, and batteries  (not car batteries) at the DMCC office.

We are working to reduce the demand on our landfills!

Volunteer Drivers
Our volunteer coordinator, Beth Levine, has been training many new volunteers who are available to drive you to your important appointments.  Our volunteer drivers can take you to your appointments and can drive you home.  We even have volunteers who can drive you and your pet to the Vet.  Just call Leah to schedule a driver.

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Our bus service has a new bus driver, Scott Eggum, a Del Mar resident.  Scott retired at a young age from the Temecula Water District.  He and his wife are long distance bicycle enthusiasts.  We are thrilled to have Scott, and you will be too.  Our former bus driver, Rachel Quiroz, has started a full-time job for Hyatt Residence, but she is available to drive for us on her day off.  We are very happy that we can call upon Rachel for extra trips.

Our Elder law Attorney, Jaime Levine is a new dad.  This is his first child, a boy.  Jaime holds his law clinic in the DMCC office the last Friday morning of the month.  He is here to help you with your legal questions.  There is no charge for his consultation.  Call Leah to make an appointment.

Leah and I are training with Aging and Independence Services (AIS) to implement their Telephone Reassurance program in Del Mar.  This program is a feature of the Universal Communication System that operates reverse 9-1-1. The Are You OK? Service will be replaced with this program that makes regularly scheduled calls to those who feel alone and at risk. AIS plans to make it available before the end of the year.

If you need more information, call Leah, our Program Manager at DMCC at 858-792-7565.

Please read the Schedule of Events below to learn about all our events.

Until next month!
