Happy New Year and welcome to the first GIJP eNewsletter of the new decade! This issue focuses on fundraising and especially how your board can easily improve its performance in this critical organizational development area.

We are also excited to announce GIFT: The Grinspoon Institute's Fundraiser's Training program. This year-long intensive will provide in-depth training, education and peer mentoring in advanced and intermediate fundraising. We encourage development staff and key fundraising leadership within your organization to apply for this new & exciting program

Please welcome Marcus Simon to the GIJP team. Marcus started this week as our new Administrative Assistant, replacing Kirstin Gadiel. We wish Kirstin well as she moves on to help promote The PJ Library. And we are excited to welcome Marcus to the team!

B'shalom,
Eric
Top10Top 10 Things Board Members Can Do to Help Raise $ (and Only 1 is Asking for It!)

By GIJP Mentors Jill Paul and Julia Riseman

In today's tough economy for fundraising, individual Board members can no longer sit on the sidelines assuming someone else on the Board or staff is working on raising funds for their camp. Every Board member can make a real impact on the camps' ability to raise meaningful, significant gifts to camp, even if they never directly ask for a gift themselves. Click here to read the top ten ways that every Board member can actively support fundraising (and only one of them is "asking").

Note that we will be discussing this list in much more detail in our Webinar on Tuesday, January 26. Please register now to hear more!

GIFTGIFT: Grinspoon Institute's Fundraiser's Training

Would you like to improve your fundraising expertise and results? Raising significant resources in today's market requires a level of leadership, professionalism, and knowledge of relationship fundraising. The Grinspoon Institute's Fundraiser's Training (GIFT) is structured to provide the integration of theories of fundraising and tools for implementation to advance every skill level. Click here for more information and to apply for GIFT.

Note: This training will NOT replace your current work with your GIJP Mentor. Instead, GIFT is meant to complement that work to make your relationship even more rewarding. Please email HGF Mentors Laurie Herrick or Jill Paul with further questions about the training.

Don't know how to get that conversation going? But you know that having meaningful conversations can make a difference in really understanding what is important to people? Connecting with people is more about listening than talking, and once you listen and hear where people are coming from, you can better connect them to camp and the important work you are doing.  Enjoy the journey and click here for TWENTY Questions that will help guide you in listening effectively to your prospects and other constituents.
