Social Networking FAQ |
| Everyone is hearing about web 2.0, Facebook, Ning, and blogs. With over 100 Million unique international users of both MySpace and Facebook as of Feb. 2008 (according to comScore), your alumni are likely out there! We have crafted an FAQ that will provide some basic overview information about these tools, what they can do for your camp, what is required to utilize them, and some basic recommendations. Please take a look at our new blog to read more about these tools and how they can help your alumni outreach and fundraising efforts. Pinemere Camp has launched a successful social network in Ning; URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp has various videos on YouTube. Please contact the Technology Program team and/or your Mentor to discuss how these tools can specifically be utilized at your camp. You can use these tools successfully, too! Go to the blog now to find out how... |

We hope this periodic eNewsletter will continue to help you utilize technology to reach your fundraising and alumni outreach goals. In particular, we believe the Social Networking FAQ is crucial to help you navigate web 2.0 and learn how you can leverage these tools in an effective, efficient way. In addition, our new blog will contain additional information and references to help you in your efforts; go ahead and subscribe via email or RSS feed (read the FAQ if you don't what that is yet!) to get the updates sent directly to you. Technology Program Transition |
| We are making lots of progress with our transition from Darim Online's implementation services to an in-house effort. We would like to thank Innis, Dylan, and Lisa from Darim Online for all of their support over the history of the program. In particular, they have been very helpful over the past couple of months, documenting their processes and transitioning their knowledge.
We continue to search for a Business Systems Analyst who can offer you the service and support you have come to expect from the GIJP Technology Program. In the meantime, Kevin will manage all questions/issues with DPO and the Alumni Portal. In addition, we have contracted with Darim Online for access to Dylan on a consultative basis during June for any necessary backup and further transition assistance.
As always, please contact Kevin (kevin@hgf.org) with any questions or requests for assistance. |

This Month's Q&A - How should we track constituent data? |
|
Question: When we track constituents, should we maintain by individual or family?
Answer: All camps have a choice of how they want to maintain their data in DonorPerfect Online. The choice has ramifications affecting pledge/gift management, solicitations, general data management/maintenance, reporting, and relationship management. Some camps decide they want to keep families together in one record. Others determine that separating the family into a set of individual records... |
