Welcome to a new year and all of the new opportunities it affords for all of us. It's hard to believe that it's 2009 when it seems like yesterday was just 1985!
The first half of our ASQ fiscal year started off great and just got better. We had are calendar of events full, great attendance at meetings, and a Christmas party for the first in a long time. The second half of the fiscal year promises to be just as great.
We have several notes of business that need to be addressed. First and foremost, we need a volunteer to be our Nominating Committee Chair. This position does not require a lot of time or energy and is really only active during the Winter / Spring. It's purpose is to call for nominations / volunteers for the coming year's officers and committee chairs, tally nominations, and announce results. If you're interested in "dabbling" in a fairly easy volunteer position, please let me know ASAP.
In the Spring we will have Tim Koester, Regional Director for our region, will host a training session for current leadership as well as anyone interested in becoming leadership in the future. It is important that all current leadership participate so please plan on attending. I am looking at early March to schedule the event. It will most likely be held on a Saturday in order to accommodate work schedules. I will clarify the exact date and time and communicate it to you all in a future e-mail. In the meantime, reserve the first two Saturdays in March as possibilities.
As a final note, I want to thank all of our members and leadership that attended our Christmas social. A special thank you to Paul Harbath and Belinda Bellingham for assisting in the coordination of the event. The food and entertainment were great, but getting to know everyone better in an informal atmosphere was especially wonderful. Prizes were won by almost every ASQ member with Belinda Bellingham winning our grand prize of a Nuvii Garmin. What a great way to celebrate our community. Thank you again for a wonderful event.
