Message from the Chair
We're at the beginning of our active season now with a lot of exciting things planned over the next few months. Take a look at the calendar and plan to attend all of the really great events scheduled. This month, Tim Zimmerman, from Gage Labs, will join us and provide useful information on the use and availability of measuring, verification, and validation devices. He will have various types of measuring devices on hand as well as a wealth of knowledge of others available to solve even your most problematic measuring concerns. Watch for the details in a separate e-mail coming soon. I hope to see you all there! Also, this year, we'll be planning a Christmas social. Our quality lives can be pretty stressful. This event will be for the sole purpose of unwinding during the holidays and getting together with and meeting new friends in an atmosphere of relaxation. Christmas time can be pretty busy for all of us so I need some input on best dates to plan the event for. I'll be sending out a quick survey shortly to gain your insights on the event. Please help me out by participating in the survey

Getting and Maintaining your Certifications
It is easy to maintain your certification so don't wait to the last minute to recertify. To recertify your certification you must accumulate 18 recertification units (RU's) over a three-year period in the certifications body of knowledge or be job enhancing. Simple ways to maintain your certification and build on your job knowledge and changes in Quality are attending seminars or attending Golden Spike section meetings. For every meeting you attend you can acquire 0.3 (RU), for seminars you can acquire 0.1 RU/hour. Additional opportunities for acquiring points range from taking courses internal or external to your company that are job enhancing or cover your certifications body of knowledge and of course becoming a member leader in your ASQ section. Recertifications are due in either December or June dependent upon when you obtained your certification. You have six months before your recertification due date and six months after your due date to send in your packet and recertifiy. Remember that the 18 RU's can only be accumulated during your 3 year certification period. Please follow the following criteria when recertfying
-
Send cover letter with name, address , telephone number and/or email address so that you may be contacted if there are any questions on your packet.
-
Make copies of all supporting documentation and attach supporting documentation to applicable category. Document's will not be returned so please don't send originals.
-
Fill out and Send in the top recertification application and payment made out to ASQ. Don't forget to sign affirming compliance with the code of Ethics, this can be form in the lower left hand of your journal application. Please make a copy for your own records.

ATK Launch Systems ATTN: Taryn Lawton M/S 640 P.O Box 707 Brigham City, UT 84302-0707 Or send a PDF copy of your packet to Taryn Lawton
Note: Your packet will be kept on file for approximately six months or until notification is received that you have been recertified. Data packets will not be returned to you so please do not send originals except for the top recertification application.
