Greetings!

The summer is over - time to get our section active again. This year promises to be an exciting one for the Golden Spike Section. The calendar is full of interesting and educational events.

Your Leadership met in June to discuss the year and this month Tim Keoster from ASQ National came to help us understand how to improve our section.

With over 200 members the Golden Spike Chapter is in the top 20% of all sections nationally for membership. Last year we were awarded the

"ASQ Certification Board Section Leadership Award"

for the highest percentage of members certified in 2007 - 2008.

Plan on attending as many of our events as you can and take a few minutes to e-mail Chris on how you can help keep our section providing the service you expect.

A New Year Begins

July officially marked the start of a new year and with it came the excitement of new goals, focuses, and activities.  The 2008-09 planning meeting at the end of June was, in my opinion, very successful.  Thank you to all of the attendees for your input and ideas.  Strategic focuses for this upcoming year, in order of priority, are as follows: communication (including website, newsletter, calendar of events, and new member contact), member offerings (tours and learning events), infrastructure, and new member recruitment.  "Consistency" is our theme goal this year with a plan for regular newsletters, pre-determined day of the month for events (third Thursday of every month), a calendar of events with at least the next quarter's worth of events posted, and quarterly leadership meetings to discuss our performance in meeting our goals.   We'll start up again full force in September and I look forward to even more participation from our members at our events.  If you didn't get the opportunity to participate in one of our events last year, you'll surely want to make sure you plan the opportunity this year.  As you can see from the calendar, we already have a lot of great activities planned and in plenty of time for you to reserve the days on your calendars.

I am eager to be part of the exciting changes that are coming to our section this year and hope you will all continue to provide feedback and ideas so that we can continue to improve.  I hope you all are having a great summer and have been able to add a few fun things to your personal calendars to make life more enjoyable.  See you in September!
