| Hello from ♥ my heart to yours | May, 2010 |
I didn't think it possible that 2010 could go by at a quicker pace than 2009 as May is nearly behind us with June marking the half way point soon upon us!
This spring has been challenging at all levels and I am reminded that it is okay to be at a place of struggle. Struggle is just another word for growth;
even the most evolved beings find themselves in a place of struggle now and then. In fact, struggle is a terrific sign of real and important progress.
May 15 - June 5 my mother Anna and her furry baby Prince are visiting from Connecticut; Rosie and Prince are becoming friends. Weather permitting we walk 1.8 miles around the lake. Spring is awakening to life and walking this circular path is a reminder to me to take one step at a time to get into rhythm. Absorb it into my whole being until it becomes a part of me and I vibrate with that rhythm of all life and know the meaning of wholeness, of being in tune with the whole of creation and therefore in tune with the creator of all creation, the wholeness of all life.
I received the Grandmothers message from several sources this week and it addresses the need, now more than ever, for everyone to be a responsible participant in living the change!
"We ask you to cast, anchor, and hold the Net of Light steady for the Gulf of Mexico ," the Grandmothers said. "This crisis is affecting the entire world, and humanity is asleep. Wake up!" they cried. "Animals are dying, plants are dying, and your Mother is writhing in agony. If you hold the Net of Light steady at this time you will help stave off further catastrophe.

"Bread for the Soul" Mini - Grants
Zootown Arts Community Center | Seedlings of Change is a 501 (c) (3) grassroots organization that was founded August of 2009 our focus is on building strong communities both locally and abroad. We believe that groups and individuals can do amazing things in community development. One of the programs we offer is "Bread for the Soul" mini grants ranging from $500-$3000 to help Kickstart projects that may otherwise never get off the ground.
All proceeds collected from the May 1, 2010 Silent Auction went toward the 'Bread for the Soul' mini grants program. We have selected (ZACC) Zootown Arts Community Center as our first mini grant recipient! Seedlings of Change, Inc. awards $770.00 to fund project (CGS) Creative Gig Service.
The Creative Gig Service (CGS) project began in response to the community need as found through the ongoing Artists Assessment performed by ZACC's AmeriCorps VISTA. The majority of artists interviewed found jobs through word of mouth; their suggestions to improve freelance opportunities directly led to the Creative Gig Service project. Both artists and Missoula businesses will be affected; lines of communication and jobs will be opened and freely advertised. |

Environmental Education
Empowering students to be future leaders
Giving students skills and knowledge to make their own educated decisions on how they live their lives and impact the Planet.
Environmental problems need to be addressed both locally and globally. That is why we are working on developing a program called the Student Action Program (S.A.P) with the support of Indigo Pearl and Seedlings of Change, a nonprofit organization providing special "Bread for the Soul" Mini-Grant Programs promoting sustainability and community involvement. S.A.P. will be designed to empower students to improve environmental quality and solve an environmental issue in their local community while strengthening ties between students and community members.
We feel it is important to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to go out and design and implement their own project. Students are the future and we want to develop educated and experienced future leaders who can go out and really impact their community and environment.
One of the goals of S.A.P is to have students discover concepts on their own by developing their own project. S.A.P will be designed to have students discover important concepts about sustainability, health, community welfare, global consciousness, networking, teamwork, and ecology. Students will learn by conducting their own research, interviewing local community members and organizations, surveying their local environment, designing a project plan and budget, implementing their project with the help from the community, and monitoring the outcomes of their project. Students will have to do everything on their own from start to finish. We will just be there to guide them, providing them with the tools they need, and a small budget.
It is our hope that we can show students how to solve problems, align values with personal actions, and influence parents and community members. We are looking forward to begin working with students in June, 2010 and hope to gain lots of support from the community, schools, local government, and businesses.
