Moore Farms
Orders This Week

First, we have a very important Action Alert for our Members this week. We do not bring up every issue regarding our food system that comes up (there are too many anyway!). But this one is really big: we need to register our opposition to a new combination of chemicals that will be allowed to be applied to our food if we don't say no. See the details below and please take a moment of your time to speak up on this one!

OK, back to the goodies: we had a wonderful week this week, weather has been great, farmer's harvests right on time and no big gaps going on. We did have a little bit less of the English Peas than we expected so some of our Farmer's Picks got an order of Snap Beans instead. We have finished crediting everyone's orders from the Mysteriously MIA Bell Peppers a few weeks back, if you did not order this week we will refund to your credit card to wrap up those pesky backorders. Crop reports are coming in and a one big happy bit of news is that our Blueberry grower Fordham Blueberry Farm is predicting a bumper crop this year! We should be able to offer flats again if Mother Nature continues to provide good growing conditions. Thanks so much to everyone for such great feedback these last couple of weeks! We love to hear from our Members about your meals, recipes and happy eating experiences. Of course if something isn't right with your order we need to know about that, too! We work very hard to be sure everyone enjoys their boxes so let us know how we're doing.

**We have heard from several of our New Members that they did not realize you can add items on to a Farmer's Pick order! Please be sure to read the Questions and Answers page of our website for all the details about how our program works: we're happy to add Farm Eggs, Cheese, Meat selections, and extra fruits or vegetables or any items from our Online Market section to a Farmer's Pick order. Just follow the "1 - 2 - 3 - 4" orange buttons on the left side of our website to Login, Choose your Order Type then add more items from our Online Market!

Strawberry Goat Cheese Lettuce Wraps
The are a great hands-on snack for kids to make: tasty fresh and nutritious, too!
Strawberry Goat Cheese Lettuce Wraps
  • Wash and drain Lettuce Leaves (Butterhead or round leaves work best)
  • Wash and trim stems off of Strawberries: cut in half if they are large or use whole for smaller berries.
  • Place a little scoop of Goat Cheese in the middle of a Lettuce Leaf, add a Strawberry and wrap up into a little bundle.
  • Pop into your mouth and enjoy!!
Yogurt Goat Cheese Dip
This is great for fresh raw veggies or just add Vinegar and Oil to make a quick Salad Dressing.

Mix together 2-3 ounces Fresh Capra Gia Goat Chevre and 8 ounces Atlanta Fresh Plain Yogurt until smooth.

For a savory dip add finely chopped mixed fresh herbs, salt and pepper to taste.

For a sweet dip (great for fruit!) add 4 Tablespoons Honey and the zest of one Orange.
Eating is a Political Act
Please take a few moments out of your day to register your opinion: it really does count!!
Will and I believe that all fresh produce, meats and dairy should have ingredient labels: why don't we have the right to know as consumers that conventionally grown produce contains a long list of chemicals applied both while the food is growing and post-harvest to prolong shelf life and "freshness"? If you had the choice between a bunch of Broccoli with a list of 15 added chemicals (really) and Broccoli that had Rain, Sunshine and Organic Compost as ingredients which do you think most folks would choose?
Monsanto wants to legalize the use of a chemical combo for our country's food that includes a derivative of Napalm. Tell them NO. -Laurie

We are very proud to bring our farmer's foods to your family and we  always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for your support!
