Moore Farms
Orders This Week

OK, gorgeous produce going into this week's boxes as Mother Nature continues her Winter tease. If you Daikon Radishesget one of the BIG white Daikon Radishes don't be alarmed (the biggest one we had this week we saved for our salads, it was almost three pounds)! Gary Weil from Red Root Herb and Vegetable Farm grows these for us every year and they are wonderful. Crunchy and mild you can enjoy them raw or cooked and they are a staple in Asian dishes.

Try them roasted in the oven, one of our favorite ways to enjoy them!

It's still raining here at the farm as of Wednesday morning but it looks like another 2" or more again this week, we are just thankful it is not snow! The Ducks love the wet weather and the Chickens could hardly wait to get out of their house this morning to start their ceremonial scratching in the wet dirt for worms. Their excitement eases our grumpiness a bit as we perform our farm chores in the cold wet weather. Farm planning for next year includes reviewing applications and scheduling WWOOF interns (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) as well as beginning our search for a Farm Manager for 2012. We are continuing plans for kitchen renovations on the historic Farmhouse this Winter, many many thanks to our Investment Members as they are making it possible for us to get this done! The Farmhouse is our base for intern housing as well as events and cooking classes. The kitchen will not be the most glamorous but it will be beautiful and very functional for the farm!

By the way, Investment Memberships make great Holiday Gifts for yourself or your family! They make checking out easier (no need to enter your credit card) and come with several perks: a Thank You Goodie Bag; farm event discounts; bonus spending up to 7% return for your Investment dollars. We also have Gift Certificates and will be loading up on farm gift items next week!

COMMUNICATIONS ALERT! We had some trouble again this week with our Members who have Earthlink or Mindspring email addresses. About 125 of you were Blocked from receiving our "Online Market is Open!" and Monday Order Reminder emails. Thanks so much to those of you who gave us a heads-up, we submitted all of the required documentation and hopefully they will allow us to communicate with you again soon! This happens a few times per year with Earthlink/Mindspring addresses only so Members may want to consider using another email address for our website to avoid the problem (let me know if you want me to change the address on your account).
