Moore Farms
Orders This Week
Good Apples by Jess Godbey
"Good Apples" by Jess Godbey

Well it looks like most of our farms came

through the first frost warning with little damage and we're enjoying the fact the cooler temps and sunny days. We had a great week this week for harvests as Woodland Gardens in Athens GA reported several items they had available for us so we ended up with Swiss Chard or Tuscan Kale on Farmer's Pick orders as well as Woodland's

beautiful Head Lettuce. The Sweet Peppers in the

boxes are from Beech Creek Farms and those are really delicious Corno di Toro Peppers, a favorite Italian variety, they are fantastic on the grill.

We had some terrific Box Graffiti this week on boxes returned to us to fill back up again and re-use for deliveries. Thank you so much to our wonderful artists (we bestowed the titles) and please keep up the beautiful artwork!

Check out the special offer in the Upcoming Events section below for $5 off of our "Hearty Farmhouse Soups and Stews" class this coming Saturday at The Cook's Warehouse at their new East Cobb location. Register by Thursday for this discount so hurry!

Pickup Location Changes

Right now the only changes we are making to the current Pickup Locations are the Alpharetta NY Butcher Shoppe and Dunwoody NY Butcher Shoppe. Unfortunately we lost our Alpharetta site when the store closed this week. This is a real loss for the community as well as our Members in that area! At this time we are suspending the Dunwoody NY Butcher Shoppe due to low order numbers. If you are a Member who has enjoyed the opportunity to pickup your orders here while shopping for NY Butcher Shoppe's wonderful offerings we may be able to resume deliveries if we have more demand. Please email us and let us know you want it back and ask your friends to do so, too. If we get enough folks who really want us up there we can resume deliveries in the future.

A few sites that have had low numbers are we are considering to cut from the delivery route are: Simply Fresh in Marietta; Avalon Catering in Toco Hills; Atlanta Fresh in Norcross; Mother Nature's Market in Tucker. If you want to keep these sites on our Pickup Locations list please let us know by ordering and tell your friends! These are all wonderful locations both for the fine folks who host our deliveries and the terrific products and services they provide.

Thanks again for everyone's emails about our Birmingham locations, we still need to see a big increase in orders so please help us spread the word! This week we still had right about the same number of orders we have had for the last two weeks so we're not seeing much growth. Many thanks to several Members who have requested flyers to hand out and welcome to new Members who have recently joined! We don't give up easy but we really need to grow in Birmingham if we are going to be able to keep delivering over there.

Satisfying Fall Salad
Some of our vegetarian WWOOFers made the most amazing Salads while they were with us in the Fall Season. Now we really look forward to ingredients such as the ones in this week's Farmers Pick orders for yummy savory salad meals.

Wash, trim and chop Swiss Chard leaves, Lettuce, Sweet Peppers and Apples. Do not throw away the Chard stems! Slice these thinly on a bias cut (diagonal) for the salad or stir-fry.

Mix together 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 cup Olive Oil, salt, pepper and 4 Tablespoons Honey or 2 Tablespoons Sugar.

Toss Greens together lightly with dressing. Top with chopped Peppers, Apples and Chard stems. Add almost anything you like: grated Cheese, toasted Pecans, steamed chopped Green Beans, shelled and sauteed Lima Beans, etc. Of course Bacon if you're a meat eater or the Sawicki's Roasted Chicken is wonderful too!

Croutons are so easy to make! Use leftover bread or cornbread, chop into bite-sized cubes, toast on a baking sheet and add to the salad.

We are very proud to bring our farmer's foods to your family and we  always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for your support!
