Orders This Week
All went great this week except Newell Farms was a little short on their Pac Choi predicted harvest so we had several orders that got Red Stemmed Turnips instead. These are a delicious and beautiful root and greens, the tops can be washed and used the same as you would the Pac Choi: stir-fried, sauteed or chopped and enjoyed raw for salads.
We had a blast this past weekend at several events: longtime Member Anna Redding joined us at the Peachtree Center Greenmarket volunteering at our booth; Members Marie and Tom Neff came out to 5 Seasons Brewing and we enjoyed a wonderful evening of food, beer and farm talk; we got to meet and greet bunches of Members at the Emory University Sustainable Food Fair; Sunday could not have had a more gorgeous day for the Field of Greens Festival! A fun-filled weekend with wonderful friends. Remember, we can usually be found at 5 Seasons Westside Thursday evenings and this week the chefs are preparing another Moore Farms Small Plate Special with our goodies! Come on out and have a visit with us on our evening off!
Pre-order your Thanksgiving Turkeys now! Reservations are now open, fresh Turkeys must be picked up at Moore Farms only (NO DELIVERIES) see details on the Online Market and below. You can place an order for your Turkey Reservation even when the rest of the Online Market is closed.

Scout Needs a New Home!
One of our Members asked us to put the word out about this fella, maybe somebody is looking for him? Let us know so we can put you in touch! -Laurie
Scout is a truly lovely dog - gentle, sweet, smart and a perfect "medium" size (about 55 pounds). He is an excellent watchdog and yet a wonderful, sweet family dog as well. The reason that we are seeking a new home for Scout is that he has boundless energy and requires daily exercise, whether at a park, hike, running with his "person" or simply living on a lot of land. Without this exercise he is restless and unhappy which makes for a stressed household of new parents and baby and a sad, under-exercised dog. He is truly a wonderful dog and we love him very much - it breaks our hearts to have to do this, but after exhausting all other options, we know that this is the best thing for Scout. Here are his specs: · 5 ½ year old Border-Collie/Lab mix · 55 pounds · In excellent health with no adverse medical history - neutered, current on all immunizations and with a clean bill of health at all yearly checkups · Good with other dogs and with cats · Perfect running partner and/or farm dog · Very social and gets along with everyone he meets! · LOVES exercise, people and playing · Comes with monogrammed LL Bean dog bed, food dish and all veterinary records. · We will drive him to his new home if needed |

Baby Chick Update
| |

Member Stacy Eberhart came by the farm to pick up her box this week and we checked in on the Mama Chicken and her Baby Chicks. They have their own little house where they are safe at night but during the day they get to range around the yard here at the farm, learning to chase bugs, scratch the ground and generally behave like Chickens! The larger group has their own house and they are mingling now with the main flock of Chickens, Roosters and Ducks.

They are growing quickly! Their feathers help them to stay camouflaged, can you tell how many chicks are in this picture? There are five!

October Stir Fry
| |
We enjoy a lot of stir fry dishes on the farm since veggies and just about any protein are perfect for this method of cooking. The Pac Choi, Squash, Cabbage, Radishes (terrific cooked!), Red-Stemmed Turnips, Avocado and Cucumber are ready-set-go for an October Stir Fry dish.
Wash, trim and chop all vegetables into similar size pieces (reserve Avocado and Cucumber).
Prepare your desired protein by marinating in soy sauce or tamari, garlic and ginger. Pork, Chicken, Beef or Tofu, it's all good (or go meatless).
Prepare Rice or Noodles.
If you don't have a wok a large frying pan is fine. Heat on HIGH until very hot, add 4 Tablespoons Peanut or Vegetable Oil and cook vegetables until just barely tender (cook firmer vegetables first, more delicate ones add later). Remove vegetables, add 2 Tablepoons Oil, cook marinated sliced meat or tofu until just done.
Mix the veggies back in, season with more soy sauce, garlic and ginger to taste and serve immediately with julienned Cucumber and sliced Avocado. Totally yummy!
