Torah Talk
At last night's meeting of our Board of Directors, Phil Taylor shared that our parsha this week - Ki Tavo - speaks to the Israelites' history, where they came from and where they are going. G-d, through Moses, tries to remind the Israelites about the events of the previous 40 years, in particular all that G-d did to take the Israelites out of slavery and to guide them to the promised land. Now that they are about to enter this land, it is important that all of Israel remember the terms of the covenant. Phil suggested that this is a great moment in time for all of us to take a step back to gain clarity and perhaps a new perspective. Just as Moses helps the Israelites reexamine the covenant with G-d, so too can we reexamine this same covenant as well as all that is important in our lives. |

| New Orleans Parent Club | | Today we have expanded the word 'education' to mean everything from math to Hebrew to piano to manners and everything in between. For many of us, the effort to give our children a well-rounded education - and still get a healthy dinner on the table every day at 5:30 - can feel overwhelming. Jewish Family Service and the JCC, in partnership with Dr. Topolosky are offering a new program called the New Orleans Parent Club. This club is an opportunity to socialize with other parents and learn important skills that will help guide parents through the everyday blessings and challenges of parenthood.
