Welcome to a new year of growth and opportunity with our wonderful club!
In the spirit of connect, collaborate, and contribute, your board held our annual retreat Saturday. In our ad hoc work groups we utilized the feedback from all of you in the November annual meeting to begin to carve out both short and long range plans for continued growth.
Accommodating Rapid Growth
In 2010 we had 30 new members and 47 returning members. Those of you at the January luncheon probably noticed we had over 50 members and guests attending. If, as feedback from November suggests, we all want to continue that level of growth, we will more than double in size in just 2 years! As your board, we are extremely aware of the need for planning for that growth in membership numbers.
Establishing Relevant Committees
The ad hoc work groups will continue to function until we have revamped and expanded our committee structure to be more appropriate for the current business and economic climate.
Expanding Networking Opportunities
In reviewing the feedback from all of you, it is clear that the luncheon speaker format and networking derbies were successful. We will work for expanded networking opportunities for all members(including member only and after hours events). We will be shifting the agenda for the luncheons to include table introductions(expanded introductions to all those at your table), increased visibility for raffle prize donors, greater attention to the members only table, and a central location for raffle ticket sales.
Increasing Board Transparency
The other piece that we heard from you was a need for greater transparency on the part of the board. Our work groups will be moving toward a goal of making board meeting minutes, agendas, and our annual budget available for all members to review in a cost effective, environmentally sensitive, format.
Celebrating our 25th Anniversary
Finally, we have a group of members interested in a special event to commemorate our 25th anniversary in 2012. More information will be available soon; the committee for that event should be up and running this spring.
Expanding Participation
We will continue to work to expand our membership numbers in the spirit of connecting and collaborating with one another. Expanded opportunities for providing direction and leadership will come to all members as we revamp our committee structure. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities as we move forward.
