President's Letter
We have been so busy with our preparations for our Scoops for Scholarships fund raiser coming up on Friday the 25th through Sunday the 27th at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts this past month! It's amazing to me how we can collectively pull together to carry out our mission. Members (and their spouses, friends or relatives!) are signed up to work our booth. Pam Mason has also done an excellent job again of coordinating volunteers from PWG to take shifts. For those that can't scoop or direct traffic to our booth for a shift or two that weekend, financially supporting the event to help underwrite costs is an option.
I'd like to shout out a huge thank you to those that donated at the luncheon last week during Kim's call to action! If you missed out and would like to participate in this way by donating to the event, please contact me. We're able to take cash, checks and even debit or credit cards via our web site (click on the "Make a Donation" link - upper right side). Your contributions are completely tax deductible too. Thank you all in advance for your support of this annual club fund raiser. It will officially be summer on the 21st, so we can hope for sunny warm weather. But, if we could all just do a little "sun dance" in a couple of weeks, we'll be all set for sure for raising another record amount!
Edrie Bizak

Luncheon Speaker
Giving Women an International Voice Jensine Larsen discovered the power of female leadership while she was a young journalist in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It was women, she witnessed, who took the lead in overcoming the horrors of genocide. In 2003, at age 28, Larsen founded World Pulse - a nonprofit media organization - to give women the voice and power to create positive change in the world. The result: WorldPulse an award-winning magazine and PulseWire, an interactive community newswire to enable women worldwide to speak out to help solve global problems. On July 8, Larsen will explain how she had the vision and the tenacity to set up a unique media outlet and how we all can learn from her experience.
