June is the last month of Boalt Hall's fiscal year, and a time when
hundreds of
alumni and friends make their gifts to the law school. This year, the

ambitious increases in financial support for students for the next

this year,
thank you! If you haven't yet made your

August 1 Accelerated LLM Admissions Deadline There is still time to apply for Boalt Hall's accelerated summer LL.M. program. In the new program, students earn their LL.M. degree over two consecutive summer sessions of 10 weeks each and are eligible to sit for the California Bar Exam. The condensed schedule is ideal for foreign educated lawyers who prefer not to leave their jobs or families for a single nine-month stretch. More information is here.
The Career Development Office Wants to Hear From You Please contact Boalt's Career Development Office if you or your organization would like to be included in a directory of employment resources available to students and alumni. Just email career@law.berkeley.edu or call 510.642.4567.
Want to Teach Law? Attend the Boalt Boot Camp Thinking about a career in law
teaching? Planning to go "on the market" this fall or the next? If you are a
Berkeley Law alum interested in a teaching career-whether you're committed,
or just curious-you are invited to the third annual "Boalt Boot Camp,"
sponsored by the Boalt Academic Placement Committee.
The BBC is a free, day-long
workshop on how to get a tenure-track academic job in law, to be held August 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the
Dean's Seminar Room at Boalt. The workshop includes information on how to
prepare for a teaching career, what to expect at the American Association of
Law Schools hiring conference, "job talk" do's and don'ts, and more - including
a mock job talk and mock interview in front of Boalt faculty, who will
participate in character and then offer constructive suggestions.
For those of you who are already
definitely committed to a law teaching career, and who plan to go on the market
this fall, we also offer an evening mini-workshop on how to navigate the
intricacies of the Faculty Appointments Register (FAR) form. Filling out this
online form, which is distributed to all law schools belonging to the American
Association of Law Schools (AALS), is the first step to an entry-level teaching
job. This workshop will be held July 14,
from 6-8 p.m., in room 111 at Boalt.
If you are interested in
attending the August BBC, the July FAR workshop, or both, please send an email
to Professor Angela Harris, aharris@law.berkeley.edu.
In your email, please let us know (1) your year of graduation from Boalt; (2) your research and teaching interests; (3) what year you plan to apply
for law school teaching jobs, if you've decided; and (4) whether you would also
like to be added to the BBC email list to be notified of academic job listings,
future BBC events, and more.
