Long Term Care Planning

Let's take a trip . . .
In our continuing celebration of Long Term Care Planning Month

Greetings!

When I talk to clients I often discuss their situation in terms of the "Elder Care Journey".
The goal is to design a plan that will take our clients on this journey as smoothly as possible.

The goal is to have our seniors stay as independent as possible for as long as possible and to protect and preserve their assets for their long term care needs and if possible, to leave a legacy for their family.

Ask any middle class senior citizen this question and you will get the same answer: What is your biggest fear? They will always answer; "running out of money". They know that we are living longer, using up more money and that long life does not mean healthy life.

As we go down the Elder Care Journey, we move from the healthy vigorous senior where Medicare picks up the tab, to the more compromised senior who needs assistance in a home or a facility. Because Medicare "stops caring", costs for long term care needs then come out of our pockets and can be astronomical. The earlier in the "journey" we prepare, the better the outcome.

Some special situations which require immediate attention:

  • Healthy senior without long term care insurance.
  • Senior recently diagnosed with a chronic illness, such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's.
  • Veteran who has large un-reimbursed medical expenses and may be entitled to benefits.
  • A child is the caregiver of the parent.
  • A loved one is about to go into, or is already in, an assisted living facility or skilled nursing home.
At our seminars, we discuss this journey in great detail, along with the public benefits we plan for, in particular Veteran's Benefits and Medicaid. Please click here for our seminar schedule.

Sincerely,
Alice Reiter Feld
