Deadline for the NEF Spelling Bee Is Just Days Away!

Time is running out to sign up for the NEF's 18th Annual Spelling Bee. To register your team, sponsor a team, or become an event sponsor, the deadline is Feb. 28, 2009.
- To enter or sponsor a team: $375
- To advertise in the program book: $100 to $300
- Combination sponsorship and advertising packages: $450 to $650

This year's Spelling Bee will be held Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. in the Newman Elementary School gym. There is no charge for admission. Join us for an evening of challenge, fun and celebrity guest announcers!

NEF Awards Large Grant to the Pollard Advisory Program |

Our Large Grant award this winter went to support the further development of the Pollard Middle School Advisory Program. This is the program developed by Principal Glenn Brand to ensure that students have a meaningful connection with at least one adult on the Pollard campus.
The Advisory Program matches each teacher with a small group of students, who meet every morning. The program provides a degree of structure to the sessions, which last longer than the traditional homeroom and can address a wide range of academic, social and other issues. The NEF Grant funds the second year of program development and training. |
