A New Year Begins

Hello! We hope the early chaos of the school year has begun to fade, and that you and your family are beginning to settle into a routine.
During the past summer, your neighbors and friends on the Needham Education Foundation board were busy planning the coming year. We have many great ideas, and we hope to announce some exciting new things in the coming months.
Last year was our best ever. After increasing the limits for our autumn and spring grants, we saw many new grants. As a result, we were able to fund 42 grants totaling more than $177,000. It was our biggest year by far.
So, on to the coming year! |
Upcoming Grant Deadlines

Two important grant cycles are coming up quickly.
- Large grant (requests up to $15,000) concept papers are due Friday, September 26
- Autumn grant (requests up to $5,000) applications are due Friday, October 10
- Large grant applications are due Tuesday, November 25

These grants are possible only because of the generosity of our donors.
Now more than ever, innovation is what characterizes a great school system. There are many great causes in Needham, but there isn't a more effective or immediate way to enrich the intellectual, social, and emotional development of our children than by making a donation to the NEF.

 It's not too early to mark your calendar for our ever-popular NEF Spelling Bee, scheduled for April 2, 2009, at the Newman school gymnasium.
