A Day at the Park for Families
At the Park Join us at Kiwanis Park in Tempe on Sunday, February 22nd, at 1:00 for our February Family Event, a day at the park!  You can do whatever you want - we'll be practicing some soccer skills and leading a group bike ride (don't forget to bring your own).  There is also a playground, a duck pond, and lots of grassy fields.  We have reserved a ramada so bring along a snack and enjoy the wonderful weather that, sadly, will soon be gone for another 8 months.  Everyone is welcome at this event and it is free, so bring your friends.  For more information or to RSVP your family, contact us!

Join us for an Open House
ABILMark your calendars for Friday, February 20th, to visit AZA United's new home at the Grand Opening for the Arizona Disability Empowerment Center!  This event will last all day and be open to the public.  Our office includes two observable clinic rooms and a Community Resource Library for families, employees and professionals in the field.  The DEC is a state-of-the-art building created by Arizona Bridge to Independent Living (ABIL) that has been designed and constructed to address the specific needs of individuals with disabilities in our community.  Other organizations now residing in the DEC include Raising Special Kids and the Arizona Center for Disability Law.  The building is equipped with multiple resources, including training rooms and a conference center.  The building is centrally located just east of 48th Street and Washington Street in Phoenix.

Online Timesheets Have Arrived
HomepageAfter decades of anticipation, AZA United has finally created an online timesheet system for employees and families!  No more midnight drives to collect signatures and send your fax before the deadline.  With this revoluntionary first-of-its-kind system, all you need is a computer, an Internet connection, and a little training from the good folks at AZA United.  It's all new to us too, so we will be rolling it out in phases.  If you would like to be a part of the first round of Beta testers please contact us!

Attend the New ABA Training
New E lecture In case you missed it last month, AZA United has developed a lively new ABA Training and you can attend on Saturday, February 28th, from 9:00 to 5:00 pm.  This training is open to all community members, and employees of AZA United can get a raise for attending and passing the test, even if you attended another ABA Training with us last year.  Parents and family members are welcome to attend for free, and all others may register for $25.  If you can't make it this time, don't worry - this will be a regularly offered training.  For more information or to sign up, contact us.

Employee of the Month
Kerrie M What began as a way out from the cold Connecticut winters to help her nephew has become a passion for Kerrie McCormick.  She first moved to Phoenix three years ago to help her sister with her 7 year old son, newly diagnosed with Autism.  She has since become an AZA United Habilitation provider for several children with autism.

According to one of these families, "It takes a special person, someone really dedicated to do the intense work that she does.  I'm so happy she is a part of my son's life.  He jumps up when she arrives and she has really made a difference for him, something that will last his lifetime."

"I've discovered that the monthly activities are fantastic and that everyone at AZA United really cares about the kids," says Kerrie.  "The passion to help is evident in how well these kids are doing."  Thanks for all you do, Kerrie!  Keep up the good work.

Parents, do you have a Habilitator that goes above and beyond?  Make a nomination for Employee of the Month!
Thanks for all you do, and don't forget to tell us what else we can do...for you!
