Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What's the best thing I can do for myself to get out of chronic pain?  Believe that your body is in the process of healing and that you don't have to live with the pain. You are most likely a part of the 97% majority of chronic pain sufferers whose primary problem is soft tissue dysfunction that can be removed if you believe it can, and are motivated to follow through with home self-care. In fact, your belief and motivation is more important than any type of treatment you receive. Scientific rtesearch by Candice Pert, PhD. Molecules of Emotion has proved that our thoughts can actually change pain.

  2. In addition to pain medication and back surgery, I've tried chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, and acupuncturists with very little success. What would you do?  Keep trying; Don't give up. We underestimate our body's healing capability and depend too much on specific techniques or therapists to remove pain and dysfunctions in our bodies. It's much more important that we change our thoughts and emotions from anxiety and fear of pain and movement to thoughts of conviction and expectation--believe that we are in the process of healing and are in fact returning to our symptom free status.

  3. Are most of your clients male or female?   Approximately 60-75% of my clients have been women since I started 12 years ago. I think it's because women generally have more body awareness and are more tuned-in to their wellness. Most guys don't come in until their pain level starts to seriously interfer with their golf game or other favorite activity.

Power of Intention

"Not only is the human nervous system capable of becoming aware of the information and energy of its own quantum field, but because human consciousness is infinitely flexible through this wonderful nervous system, you are able to consciously change the informational content that gives rise to your physical body. You can consciously change the energy and informational content of your own quantum mechanical body, and therefore influence the energy and informational content of your extended body--your environment, your world--and cause things to manifiest in it."   Deepak Choprea, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

A Softer Gentler Way To Eliminate Pain

I received my initial training in Soft Tissue Release (STR) ten years ago. It's a powerful therapy based on European osteopathy techniques originally developed for Olympic and world-class athletes that also effectively treats chronic pain. The gentle treatment addresses the cause of soft tissue dysfunctions and subsequent referred pain and nerve entrapment instead of focusing on the point of pain.

My recent enthusiasm and subsequent current STR training is based on its remodeled format utilizing principles of quantum physics. STR has proven most effective in clinical application for chronic pain, including low back, whiplash injuries, and repetitive use conditions such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel and thoracic outlet syndromes.

The treatment consists of a set of gentle, rhythmic and precise stretches combined with a specific compression and continuous changes in the plane of the stretch applied along the length of the muscle. Applying multiple reps, the muscle is lengthened with a pressure and stretch, held no longer than 1.5 seconds along the line of injury. The result is fast and permanent reorganization of scar tissue as the injured muscle is returned to its proper resting length.
Healthy Eating and Drinking Tips

If you're looking for a tasty, nutritious snack to supplement your high-veggie high-fruit diet--one that helps fuel athletes through grueling long distance events, and also helps fight obesity and high blood pressure, try one  of America's oldest snack foods--nuts.

  • Almonds are considered one of the healthiest nuts containing the most calcium of any nut and a lot of vitamin E, in addition to heart-healthy fat.
  • Walnuts are high in omega-3 alpha-linoleic acid, which help curb inflammation and prevent coronary heart disease.
  • Macadamia nuts are highest in saturated fat, but only 80% is monounsaturated, which can lower triglycerides and have beneficial effects of LDL and HDL cholesterol. Also contain fiber and protein.
  • Pistachios are loaded with protein and contain high amounts of carotenoids, lutein, and zeaxanthin for maintaining good vision.

Kombucha - A great tasting and energizing lightly sweetened, fermented tea that dates back to China's Qin Dynasty, 250 BC, where it was called the Immortal health elixir. It's low in calories and will do much more than quench your thirst. The fermentation process forms:

  • Enzymes - to aid digestion
  • Probiotics - the good bacteria that helps with immune function, nutrient absorption, and inflammation reduction
  • Polyphenols - antioxidants found in plants
  • B-Vitamins - helps support and increase metabolism, maintain healthy skin and muscle tone, enhance immune and nervous system function, and promotes cell growth.

Synergy is available at Whole Foods in several flavors including: cranberry, Gingerberry, and Gingeraide.

Emotional Energy Release
"Healers from various Eastern and alternative modalities can literally see the mind in the body, where it does indeed exist, and are adept at techniques that can get it unstuck if necessary. In fact, almost every other culture but ours recognizes the role played by some kind of emotional energy release, or catharsis, in healing."
Candace Pert, PhD. Research Professor Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University Medical Center and author of Molecules of Emotion - The Science Behind Mind-Body Medicine - Why You Feel The Way You Feel
