Greetings!

Fall is the season when people focus on family and hometowns, whether that is going to grandmother's house for Thanksgiving, jumping in the leaves or talking with children about what gifts they want for the holidays. Autumn also is the time of year when customers particularly appreciate the human touch they find at Northeast Bank. As a community bank, closely connected with the cities and towns we serve, we have a personal relationship with our customers and a concern for their welfare that cannot be missed. This connection is one of the reasons we are so pleased every time we help someone buy a home, invest in a business or purchase the car they have always wanted. Even as some others have pulled back during the recession, we have continued to invest money within our communities -- with a 60 percent increase in mortgage lending last year. We help people make the most of their assets in other ways as well, through our savings and checking accounts, insurance products and retirement planning advice. At Northeast, we have been adding new products and services to help our customers receive even better offerings, more convenient locations and a wider range of services. If you would like to learn about how your community bank can help you accomplish your financial goals and pursue your dreams, visit or call one of our bank branches or insurance offices. We are the local community partner for your family and business.
All the best,
President and CEO |

Button Up Your Home
|
Fuel prices may have dropped from their all-time highs, but they still cost the typical family thousands of dollars a year to keep their house warm. To cut down on those costs and keep your family comfortable this winter, prepare now for the cold months ahead.
A great place to start is by blocking leaks that let cold air into your house and warmth escape. You can find them by holding a lit incense stick near those parts of the home where drafts are most likely to lurk - doors, windows and electrical outlets. Use this technique on a windy day, and you'll see where drafts are blowing smoke off the incense stick.
When you find a draft, install door sweeps on outside doors and gaskets on those electrical outlets that are on exterior walls. Seal leaks outside with masonry sealer. If your windows are really drafty, you might consider replacing them because, even though there can be a substantial expense to do that, it can save you money in the long-run.
Consider too adding some insulation in the attic, even if there is already some there. You should have at least a foot of insulation in the attic to keep your home warm.
Finally, make sure to check your furnace and, ideally, have it tuned up once a year - prior to the heating season - to ensure that it is ready to keep you warm and running as efficiently as possible once winter arrives.

Do Your Banking on the Go
|
Personal banking customers can now take care of their finances while they are on the move, thanks to a new Northeast Bank application for iPhoneŽ users - available through our Mobile Banking service. To make these transactions safe and secure, the process involves multiple layers of authentication.
This free service allows personal banking customers to access their accounts online and transact business such as reviewing balances and transferring funds. Mobile customers can even sign up for alerts and have text messages sent to them automatically when their balance falls below a certain amount or a paycheck is direct deposited. |

Connect With Your Small Business Partner
|
Small businesses are the heart of our economy, and Northeast is proud to work as a partner with these organizations. That work is strengthened by our participation in the U.S. Small Business Preferred Lender Program.
The SBA, which guarantees qualified commercial loans for approved banks, has extended Northeast Bank's participation in the program in Maine and New Hampshire for an additional two years.
The program streamlines the loan approval process for U.S. small businesses, delegating loan approval, closing, servicing, and liquidation authority to experienced lenders.

Make Sure You Are Covered
While you are buttoning up your home for winter, it's also a great time to make sure there are no gaps in your insurance coverage. This is the season when icy roads and walkways, not to mention wood stoves and fallen electrical wires, can create risks that just aren't there in the summertime.
Agents at your local Northeast Bank Insurance Group office would be glad to assist you in looking over your current auto and home insurance policies to make sure that you are protected from unexpected events such as accidents and fires. | |
