New FDIC Limits Explained
"Is my money safe?" Is a question that many are asking. Northeast Bank is an FDIC-insured financial institution. In response to current economic conditions the FDIC has increased insurance limits to give you a higher level of protection. In summary, the limits have been increased to $250,000 from $100,000 on a temparary basis and accounts that don't earn interest are now protected up to the full amount regardless of the balance.

Increase to $250,000
All interest bearing deposit accounts at Northeast Bank are insured up to at least $250,000 per depositor until December 31, 2009. On January 1, 2010, FDIC deposit insurance for all deposit accounts - except for certain retirement accounts -will return to at least $100,000 per depositor. Insurance coverage for certain retirement accounts, which include all IRA deposit accounts, will remain at $250,000 per depositor.

Unlimited Coverage for Non-Interest Bearing Accounts
All non-interest bearing transaction deposit accounts, including all personal and business checking deposit accounts that do not earn interest, are fully insured for the entire amount in the deposit account.

Both the increase to $250,000 and the unlimited insurance is a temporary measure and will remain in effect until December 31, 2009. For more information visit the FDIC website.
