Trevor Eissler has an easy, conversational writing style, and a gift for translating academic jargon into something useful. He walks readers right into the Montessori classroom and provides the details they crave when trying to compare schools, programs, and philosophies. As a great storyteller with a sense of humor, he entertains as he enlightens. The book is packed with meaty anecdotes and the best of what critics and educators have had to say on the subject of school reform. It held my attention from the first eight word opening sentence to the very last page.

Montessori Madness! not only discusses what's gone wrong in other schools, but also identifies what exactly about the Montessori classroom goes so delightfully right. It inspires parents to experiment and innovate and actively participate in the design of the education of their children. My sense is that Montessori Madness! began as a father's private investigation and evolved into a call to action. I have not found another book out there that gets to the heart of the Montessori education like this book does. Thank you, Trevor Eissler, for a great offering.stressed and resentful towards our children for all we do for them. The parent/child relationship gets worse and our children become less and less capable of doing things on their own. Come and learn 5 simple secrets for getting the kids to cooperate without struggles. Get ready to watch your children help you more and fuss less!

At the conclusion of his seminar,Trevor will be signing copies of his new book Love, Montessori Madness; a Parent to Parent Argument for Montessori Education.
 Happy New Year!

Greetings!
I hope you found time for some much needed R&R over this holiday break. It has b been a great pleasure working with each of your families. Thank you for a wonderful first half of the year.

New Families at CTMS: I am excited to welcome several new children and families to our classes.  Please make sure to introduce yourself to:

Amelia and her parents Ron & Katherine Pellitier
Catherine and her parents William and Shannon Budds
Jet and his parents Chris and Faith
Jersey and her parents Brett and Lidsey Balducci
Myan and her parents Hung & Nhi Nguyen
Morgan  and her parents John & Leslie Bubellos
Mikayla  and her parents Michael & Rachel O'Brien
Peter and his mom Lauren Dowling

Antarctica and African Studies: During the month of January the students will be learning about Antarctica.  For the remainder of the year the students will begin learning about the countries and cultures of Africa.  If you have anything you would like to share with them, please talk to the teachers.  It would be great if you can share artifacts, photos, a slide show, a video, create art work, cook, and/or tell stories of this fascinating continent.

Re-Registration: Re-registration packets will be going out mid month.  All forms should be turned in no later then Feb. 15th so that we have enough time to plan for the upcoming class configurations.  If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Recess Policy:  Unless we experience extreme weather conditions, (i.e. dangerous hot/cold temperatures, heavy rain, etc.) the children go outside for recess.  Therefore, please be sure to bring appropriate outside attire (i.e. rain jackets, snow pants, mittens, boots, hats...) for the comfort of your child. Also be sure to label these items with your child's name.  Given that the safety of the children is a primary concern of the Children's Tree, it is essential that the staff be outside watching the children on the playground during recess.  We are not staffed to watch children both inside and outside.  Therefore, if the weather permits going outside, then all children will be going outside.  If you feel your child cannot participate in the outside activities, you may pick-up your child at 11:00 am before outside activities begin .  We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but this policy is necessary for the safety of the children.

On-time Reminder:  With the New Year, let's make getting to school on time a resolution! We have many children arriving late to school.  Please make every effort to be at school between 8:30-8:55.  Late arrivals are not only disruptive to the entire school but are very difficult for your child's transition into the school day.  Being on-time can make the difference between a great, productive day and a tough day for your child.

Small Items Wanted: The Language areas of all of our classrooms are looking for small objects that the children can practice sounding out their names on.  Generally, they are the handful of things that you pick up off the floor and toss in the garbage every other week.  Small figures and accessories that get all over the house and make you crazy. Send them in to us and put them to good use. Thanks!

Sincerely,
- The Children's Tree Montessori School

A Great New Years Resolution
