Greetings!

OK, very occasionally we like to tell you what we do. But we don't forget our friends. Or engaging with clients and contacts through social media.  And our chairman has not been silenced by any superinjunction. As ever read on to find out more....

1. Introducing the Orchard Growth solution.

At Orchard we recognise that in today's challenging environment businesses large and small need to ensure that they have strong financial management. Whether it is profit improvement, cash flow management, business planning or management reporting, an awareness of financial issues and the ability to take timely decisions based on accurate and relevant information is key to delivering profitable growth and attracting investment. A high calibre finance director that can deliver this is essential for success.

However Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), businesses with the greatest need for support from an experienced finance professional, are also the ones that are least able to pay for it. Therefore they either don't engage anybody or use an individual or firm that is not really right for the role. In effect they settle for second best.

But there is another way. Orchard Growth Partners provides a cost effective finance director solution for SME businesses. We work on a part time basis so you only pay for what you need.

We work with you to understand your business needs from a financial management perspective and identify the gaps in what is being done. We put together an action plan and then work with you to ensure that what needs to be done actually gets done and that you reap the full benefits of sound financial management.

In order to make this happen Orchard will take the following steps...

2. Enterprise Britain - 4.8 million people can't be wrong.

Dirk van Dijl

Orchard Growth Partners is a partner and contributor to the Enterprise Britain blog, which promotes the cause of smaller and medium sized companies in the UK. We asked Dirk van Dijl, the editor of Enterprise Britain, to explain what Enterprise Britain is all about and share his views of the current business climate with us.

What is Enterprise Britain and how did the idea come about?

EnterpriseBritain was first mentioned by Gordon Brown in 1997 and the term has since been used by many politicians. It comprises the 4.8 million entrepreneurs and managers working in our small and medium sized companies who are recognised as the real drivers of our future economic growth. It all started as a simple blog from one of our contributors and then just mushroomed in terms of contributors, readers and scope. We have now expanded into a wide range of social media and are looking to grow further by offering other products and services. We also share our views with politicians and large business leaders. Our aim is to get more people to share their experiences so we can all learn from each other. It is very easy to contact or engage with us, whether by email, telephone, a comment on a blog, through Twitter or via a Linked-In message.

Why are the SMEs with Enterprise Britain so important?

Enterprise Britain is recognised as the engine of every economic recovery and it is also extraordinarily innovative. A simple fact - if each enterprise in Enterprise Britain employed one additional person, our unemployment problems would be completely solved. So anything our government can do to stimulate Enterprise Britain has an extraordinary payback. Enterprise Britain has the creativity and flexibility needed to drive Britain ahead...

4. The thoughts of Chairman Paul.

Paul Cooper

Superinjuctions are the current in thing as regards hiding information from public view. Rich celebrities backed up by high priced lawyers are fighting what now seems a losing battle to keep their vices and peccadillos to themselves.

Many of the problems that businesses face are also hidden from view. However this is not because of any external restriction but simply due to a lack of good information about what is happening in the business. Therefore regular management reports based on key performance indicators that are focused on the drivers of profits and cash are vital to exposing shortcomings and risks.

As a business you can't rely on twitter or parliamentary privilege to reveal what you don't know. You need to make sure that you have the management tools in place to find out yourself. If you do then one day you might be rich enough to be able to afford your own superinjunction.

What do you think?

Agree or disagree with Paul? Let him know on 07770 475485 or paulc@orchardgrowth.com.

Kind Regards,
